What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a Java Developer to join our growing technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the 8x8 engineering team that is involved in the entire life cycle of development, from the browser to the database. You will be part of the team that owns high performance, mission critical services, from design to development, deployment and operation at scale. Get the chance to work in a microservices architecture, add new features, solve day-to-day problems and contribute to system wide technical improvements. All this in an agile run project that is continuously deployed in Kubernetes clusters hosted in AWS and OCI.

What you’ll do at 8x8:

Design and implement web application functionalities using Java as a main language
Contribute to the full development lifecycle - design, develop, test, deploy, maintain code
Work closely with our product management and design to clarify and satisfy feature specifications
Research, design and develop Proofs of Concept to solve product requirements
Prepare and release new versions of services
Diagnose and address issues involving complex system interdependencies, scale, unfamiliar codebase.
Contribute and provide value to multiple products and services.
Promote and drive innovation, quality and performance initiatives within the team and throughout 8x8.
Mentor and educate engineers on best practices and new technologies.
Adhere to high quality standards through unit testing and automation
Join a dynamic team and become part of a large open-source community

What you bring to the team:

4+ years of experience in Java
Solid knowledge of the Spring framework, REST Web Services, SQL
Good understanding of object-oriented programming principles and strong design skills
Experience working with cloud providers (e.g AWS, OCI), with Linux and technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage
Background in application and communication protocols (HTTP, WebSocket, XMPP, WebRTC), networking and security is an advantage
Good analytical and creative problem solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
