Senior Director of Infrastructure

ABOUT THE ROLE
Accela is seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Director of Infrastructure to lead the design, modernization, and operational excellence of our enterprise infrastructure across hybrid and cloud environments. This leader will oversee infrastructure engineering, enterprise IT operations, and cloud transformation initiatives—ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant systems that power Accela’s mission to help governments better serve their communities.
The ideal candidate combines deep infrastructure expertise (cloud platforms, automation, compliance) with a proven ability to inspire teams, partner with business leaders, and drive modernization across complex environments.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Infrastructure Strategy & Operations
- Define and execute a multi-year infrastructure roadmap aligned to business goals and compliance needs.
- Lead cloud modernization initiatives (Azure, AWS).
- Oversee enterprise IT operations, including helpdesk, collaboration platforms, identity management, and enterprise apps (Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Azure Virtual Desktop).
- Drive automation with Terraform, PowerShell, and Bash to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Implement disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response strategies.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure alignment with frameworks such as PCI, SOC, NIST, and GovRAMP.
- Partner with Security and Compliance teams to maintain secure, compliant environments.
- Lead infrastructure-related audits and proactively manage risks.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing infrastructure and operations teams.
- Partner with business leaders to ensure infrastructure supports growth and innovation.
- Manage vendor relationships and technology investments to maximize ROI.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive IT leadership, including executive-level roles.
- Proven track record in cloud migration and infrastructure modernization.
- Experience managing global or multi-site IT teams and vendors.
- Background in compliance-heavy industries (healthcare, financial services, biotech, etc.).
Skills & Knowledge
- Expertise in hybrid and cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
- Strong knowledge of enterprise IT operations and application ecosystems.
- Deep understanding of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.
- Strategic planning, budgeting, and project management expertise.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Other Expectations
- Occasional travel for projects or team needs.
- Rare on-call availability for urgent issues or critical operations.

COMPENSATION AND WELL-BEING
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $215,000-$230,000 (less applicable taxes). The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience. In addition to an annual base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus target. This is a discretionary bonus awarded based on company and individual goal achievement.
