Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced MSSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in India. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases, along with experience in other database platforms. This role requires particular expertise in Azure and Windows environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our databases, as well as contributing to the overall architecture and strategic direction of our database infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security
• Design, implement, and monitor database systems to ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness
• Optimize database performance through regular maintenance tasks, such as indexing, query optimization, and resource management
• Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies
• Monitor database health and performance using industry-standard tools and Azure-specific monitoring solutions
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements
• Ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations and best practices
• Perform database migrations and upgrades, particularly involving Azure and other cloud platforms
• Automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages such as PowerShell
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing 24/7 support as needed
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in database technologies and cloud platforms, particularly Azure
• Document database architectures, procedures, and policies
  
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a reputable institution
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA
• Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instances, and other Azure database services
• Proficiency in managing databases on Windows Server environments
• Knowledge of other database platforms, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, is a plus
• Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and performance tuning
• Experience with database backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, T-SQL, and possibly Python
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and concepts, particularly within Azure environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools is preferred

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or other relevant Azure certifications
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of networking and security principles related to database management
• Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools
• Windows Server system administration experience
