Role Summary

Are you a data expert who thrives on optimizing performance, ensuring reliability, and driving innovation through database excellence? AdvancedMD is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing technology organization. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our cloud-based SQL Server environments that power our industry-leading healthcare solutions.

As a Senior Database Administrator, you’ll leverage your deep expertise in SQL Server, performance tuning, and cloud technologies—particularly AWS—to maintain and enhance AdvancedMD’s mission-critical SaaS systems. You’ll own the standards for database health and performance, collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to optimize application data flows, and ensure high availability across multi-tenant, distributed environments.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a healthcare technology leader where your database expertise and technical leadership will directly impact system performance, reliability, and user experience for thousands of healthcare professionals nationwide. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and are passionate about solving complex data challenges, we’d love to meet you.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Manage and improve SQL Server databases for health, performance, security, and stability
  • Own and drive SQL code standards and performance
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes
  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems as part of an on call rotation schedule
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours

What You'll Need to Get the Job Done:

  • Advanced experience with AWS or other cloud computing providers
  • Advanced knowledge of Always On Availability Groups (AOAG)
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of tuning SQL queries with complex single and multitenant configurations
  • Experience with continuous deployment in a high availability environment
  • Windows and MSSQL system administration
  • Understanding of networking concepts
  • An ongoing thirst for new knowledge, ideas, and a passion for success
  • Experience working with distributed teams
  • Creative problem-solving, proficient debugging and profiling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

What Will Make us LOVE You

  • You’re a performance tuning pro – you instinctively know how to analyze execution plans, optimize complex queries, and make SQL Server run faster than anyone thought possible.

  • You think like an engineer, not just an administrator – you’re passionate about automation, scripting, and improving systems so they require less manual intervention over time.

  • You’re calm under pressure – when a critical production issue arises, you methodically troubleshoot, communicate clearly, and drive resolution without breaking a sweat.

  • You collaborate and elevate – you thrive in cross-functional environments, sharing database best practices with developers, DevOps, and product teams to improve overall system design.

  • You have a growth mindset – you’re constantly exploring new AWS services, database technologies, and monitoring tools to stay ahead of the curve and strengthen our data ecosystem.
