Expert Business Analyst – Salesforce CPQ

Pune, Hybrid

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned, strategic Senior Business Analyst with deep Salesforce expertise — and a strong specialization in Salesforce CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) — to join our Business Systems team within IT. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of systems architecture, business process design, and cross-functional stakeholder alignment.

You will serve as the primary BA authority for our Salesforce ecosystem, with CPQ as the centerpiece of your work. You'll own end-to-end requirements across complex quoting workflows, pricing models, approval hierarchies, product catalog structures, and downstream integrations with billing and ERP systems. You'll be embedded with Product and Engineering while maintaining close partnerships with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Operations — translating business needs into scalable, well-documented technical solutions.

This role demands someone who can operate with significant autonomy, lead discovery with business stakeholders, and translate nuanced business rules into precise, implementable specifications. If you have the scars from complex CPQ implementations and the communication skills to match — we want to talk.

Core Responsibilities

Salesforce CPQ (Primary Focus)

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and BA lead for all Salesforce CPQ initiatives, including new implementations, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance
  • Own requirements gathering and documentation for CPQ-specific domains: product catalog, bundles, pricing rules, discount schedules, quote templates, approval workflows, and contract lifecycle
  • Translate complex pricing and quoting business logic into detailed functional specifications, CPQ configuration requirements, and user stories with rigorous acceptance criteria
  • Partner with CPQ architects and developers to validate that configured solutions accurately reflect business rules and edge cases
  • Lead discovery sessions with Sales, Finance, and Deal Desk stakeholders to surface CPQ pain points, process gaps, and enhancement opportunities
  • Support CPQ testing cycles, including UAT planning, defect triage, and regression analysis

Salesforce Platform & Broader BA Responsibilities

  • Act as the go-to BA for Salesforce platform enhancements beyond CPQ, including Sales Cloud, custom objects, flows, validation rules, and integrations
  • Lead backlog grooming and story refinement with development teams, ensuring stories are technically scoped, acceptance criteria are unambiguous, and sprint commitments are grounded in requirements clarity
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation: process flows, data dictionaries, object models, business rules, and integration specs
  • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities that optimize Salesforce utilization, reduce manual effort, and increase data quality
  • Support Agile ceremonies — sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives — as an active, contributing participant
  • Track and communicate project progress, risks, and blockers with transparency across stakeholders and IT leadership

What You Bring

Experience & Background

  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in enterprise IT environments
  • 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce CPQ BA experience — this is non-negotiable; candidates without significant CPQ requirements work will not be considered
  • Demonstrated history of supporting or leading full-cycle CPQ engagements, from discovery through post-launch stabilization
  • Prior experience working in SaaS, healthcare IT, or other high-complexity enterprise environments strongly preferred

Salesforce CPQ Expertise

  • Deep, working knowledge of CPQ data model: Products, Price Books, Price Rules, Quote Line Editor, Configuration Attributes, Product Rules, and Approval Processes
  • Ability to evaluate and document CPQ configuration options vs. custom development trade-offs
  • Familiarity with CPQ-to-billing handoffs and downstream impacts on revenue recognition, contract amendments, and renewals
  • Experience with Salesforce CPQ integration patterns (e.g., Zuora Billing, DocuSign, NetSuite, or similar)

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Expert-level proficiency in Salesforce platform concepts: standard/custom objects, flows, process automation, profiles/permission sets, and governor limits awareness
  • Comfort with API integration concepts and data flow documentation; light SQL for data validation and analysis
  • Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, Lucidchart/Visio, and Excel/Google Sheets for requirements management and analysis

Soft Skills & Ways of Working

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication — able to effectively bridge business stakeholders and IT delivery teams
  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity, aligning competing stakeholder priorities, and driving toward decisions
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams without sacrificing quality
  • Self-directed and proactive; you surface issues before they become blockers

Bonus Qualifications

  • Salesforce CPQ Specialist or Salesforce Administrator certification
  • Experience with Zuora, NetSuite, Workday, or other enterprise billing/ERP platforms
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) as they relate to quoting and contract configuration
  • IIBA CBAP or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification
  • Background supporting Deal Desk, Sales Ops, or Finance teams as an IT systems partner

Why This Role

You won't be a ticket-taker here. You'll be the person who defines how Salesforce CPQ actually works — the rules, the logic, the edge cases, and the experience for every rep who opens a quote. As part of our Business Systems team, you'll have real ownership, strong technical partners, and the kind of enterprise complexity that keeps the work interesting. If you're ready to do the most meaningful BA work of your career, this is the opportunity.
