About the DataOps Engineer I Position:

The DataOps Engineer I will design, build, and maintain automated processes to support data ingestion of client data and monitoring timeliness and completeness of that data. Monitoring data from the point of ingestion will support downstream business operations by alerting client support teams of any potential issues with client data received in a timely manner. Documentation of work and attention to detail are essential components of this position.

This position is eligible for remote work, but quarterly travel will be required to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida.

DataOps Engineer I Responsibilities:

  • Catalog existing files exchanged between Avalon and clients, including frequency, file sizes, etc.
  • Architect processes to monitor data ingestion and identify when expected files are not received, are received late, or are deviating significantly in volume of data received given historical patterns or when additional, unexpected files are received
  • Review data to ensure it contains expected data elements
  • Create and document findings to ensure historical knowledge is preserved
  • Ability to work across departments and with multiple stakeholders, including direct client interaction
  • Provide Customer Success Team, Account Management, and/or other internal teams knowledge of any potential issues to report back to the client
  • Adhere to company and industry compliance, regulatory, and best practice standards
  • Self-starter; identify and leverage relevant data to diagnose situations, identify potential solutions and drive results
  • Successfully manage multiple projects at a time
  • Act as subject matter expert and create training materials on self-service dashboards.

DataOps Engineer I Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in data engineering or equivalent education
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or statistics; or 5+ years’ equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience writing SQL queries
  • Analytical and interpretation skills, ability to review data and gain insight
  • Ability to apply knowledge gained from one project to subsequent projects

DataOps Engineer I Preferred Qualifications:

  • SSMS, SSIS experience
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims data
