About the Business Intelligence Analyst II position:

The Business Intelligence Analyst will drive data-driven reporting to support Avalon’s client, product, and operational data needs, collect and organize reporting and business requirements, and create dashboards that empower internal and external stakeholders to make actionable, data-driven decisions. This will include mining, cleaning, aggregating, and formatting data for consumption by internal and external stakeholders. Documentation of work and attention to detail are essential components of this position.

This position is eligible for remote work, but travel to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida may be requested during the assignment.

Business Intelligence Analyst II – Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop SQL queries, views, and stored procedures for ad-hoc reporting needs
  • Review and validate client data to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards
  • Leverage SQL querying in Snowflake to perform deep dive analytics to identify relationships and driving factors associated with key outcomes
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to define the data model, data aggregation, and performance needs for the underlying data that will be used in the dashboards (Tableau and PowerBI)
  • Create and document dashboards for the Account Management, Product, and other internal teams that allow them to make data-driven decisions and proposals using a common view of the data and clear, consistently defined metrics
  • Ensure that Account Management has the metrics, drill-down, and reporting capabilities they need to provide contractual reports and respond to client questions and investigations
  • Adhere to company and industry compliance, regulatory, and best practice standards
  • Self-starter; identify and leverage relevant data to diagnose situations, identify potential solutions and drive results
  • Successfully manage multiple projects at a time
  • Act as subject matter expert and create training materials on self-service dashboards

Business Intelligence Analyst II – Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of employment experience in an analytical role
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or statistics, or equivalent work experience
  • Analytical and interpretation skills, ability to review data and gain insight
  • Ability to apply knowledge gained from one project to subsequent projects
  • Experience writing SQL queries
  • Experience with Tableau and/or PowerBI
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Experience with SSRS/PowerBI Report Server
  • Experience with Snowflake

Business Intelligence Analyst II – Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing in Python
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims data
