Job Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Learning and Product, the post holder will be responsible for developing effective eLearning applications for BARBRI’s learners. The role ensures that BARBRI provides maximum availability of accurate, high quality and up to date learning via its Learning Management Systems (LMS).

The postholder will have an interest in various disciplines, such as technology, people, communication and learning. They will identify, develop and maintain BARBRI’s UK product, eLearning and digital learning solutions, to be engaging and easy to understand; resolve end user problems and ensure digital learning data is trackable and accurately recorded and reported.

They will keep abreast of new developments within eLearning and incorporate those into internal development as agreed. As an eLearning specialist the post holder will support Subject Matter Experts, (SMEs), to develop high quality learning modules working to BARBRI standards and configure those modules to run on BARBRI’s LMS systems as required. Working closely with BARBRI’s Operations Support Specialist, the post holder will ensure the smooth running and availability of eLearning on a day-to-day basis. The post holder will on a regular basis meet with SMEs, attend meetings with other BARBRI colleagues and external providers. The post holder will have an excellent working knowledge of LMS systems and be able to use various software packages to produce learning that includes image manipulation software, text, animations and videos.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with SMEs to build new eLearning content and updates to existing content held in the LMS, ensuring they are advised on the best methods to convert the content into highly engaging digital/eLearning
  • Support the conversion of content into high quality accessible digital learning solutions through video, online PDF, image manipulation software, text, animation, AI and other software packages
  • Oversee the project management of e-learning course content and platform build.
  • Support increasing knowledge and awareness of different digital methods to create engagement through learning with SMEs and other colleagues within the Learning and Operations Teams
  • Keep up to date with, and where relevant lead projects on, new LMS developments for digital learning tools and plug ins and suggest new ideas/solutions for improving content development
  • Ensure digital solutions have the appropriate tracking/completion mechanisms to enable accurate reporting
  • Engage with Learner feedback and identify ways to improve the learner experience with digital learning content
  • Ensure learning is designed considering the accessibility needs of students engaging with learning and using our agreed templates/standards
  • Contribute to the identification of key areas for improvement with eLearning and support the delivery of the improvement plan
  • Train faculty, mentor team members, and provide support to academic and operational staff (especially in relation to any student platform issues).

Specifically:

  • Review/audit existing course structures and identify areas for improvement in UX and learning methodology
  • Identify functionality within D2L system that is currently not utilised and could be implemented to enhance the learner experience
  • Identify additional software that could be used to enhance the learner experience
  • Assist in the move of course content across different/new/internal platforms, as per business objectives and development roadmaps.
  • Following the implementation of system developments, achieve improvements in NPS and feedback scores from students utilising any new e-learning content or software enhancements.

Education & Technical Competence:

  • Bachelor’s degree or other relevant education level
  • Technically proficient in building effective E learning courses
  • Experienced in designing E learning content/courses that help learners retain knowledge, motivates them, and prepares them for end point assessments or work scenarios.
  • Experience of building courses within D2L and Litmos
  • Understanding of instructional design/learning pedagogy and emerging technologies
  • Experience of migrating courses between LMS platforms.

  • Project management skills for the successful completion of eLearning projects.
  • Ability to prioritise and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans and work to deadlines.
  • Adaptable to work environment changes, manages competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Ability to work effectively in groups and in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working with graphic designers, programmers and external software companies
  • Experience with software for document creation, image manipulation and video editing.

Contract type: 1 year fixed term

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Travel Requirements: Some business travel is required
