We’re seeking a Senior Data Architect to design, optimize, and maintain enterprise database systems that support large-scale operations. This role blends architectural design, performance engineering, and hands-on SQL development. You’ll play a key role in improving database efficiency, enabling modernization efforts in AWS, and supporting ongoing optimization of our data landscape.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in SQL Server architecture, database performance tuning, and collaboration with development teams to design scalable, efficient data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical lead for database architecture, design, and optimization initiatives.
  • Develop and troubleshoot complex SQL scripts, stored procedures, and performance issues.
  • Partner with development teams to review, refactor, and optimize database code.
  • Lead efforts in database performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Support and enhance ETL processes, ensuring efficient data load and transformation.
  • Drive initiatives related to SQL Server upgrades, backup redesign, and AWS integration.
  • Participate in production deployments and release nights for database updates.
  • Utilize database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and developers on best practices in database design and performance.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server (architecture, performance tuning, optimization).
  • Proficiency in SQL development, including complex stored procedures and performance troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of ETL tools and processes.
  • Experience supporting AWS database technologies (RDS, Postgres, DynamoDB).
  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools such as IDERA or Redgate.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience supporting production deployments and release management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with database modernization and migration projects (e.g., AWS, SQL Server upgrades).
  • Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and enterprise data architecture principles.
  • Exposure to automation, DevOps for databases, or Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.

Specific benefit offerings vary by position and may be subject to change.

Standard working hours are 8am-5pm Central Time, unless otherwise stated in the Job Description.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $135,000-$165,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at bswift, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package!
