Position Overview

As a Product Marketing Manager at Civitas Learning, you’ll be the expert voice bridging our innovative products with the unique needs of the higher education market. This role is crucial for developing compelling product positioning, driving impactful Go-to-Market strategies, and empowering sales and customer success teams to effectively communicate the value of our AI-powered data science tools, ultimately contributing to student success and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the expert on higher education market trends (e.g., declining enrollment, micro-credentials, AI in education), unique challenges, and competitive landscapes (features, pricing, positioning of other EdTech vendors).
  • Craft clear, compelling, and differentiated product positioning and value propositions that resonate with the higher education audience, translating technical features into tangible benefits for students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Manage the cross-functional GTM strategy for new product releases and feature updates, creating and executing comprehensive launch plans, defining success metrics, and coordinating timelines across all relevant teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product).
  • Lead customer interviews, win/loss, and competitive analysis; synthesize insights into opportunities and objections for product and sales.
  • Create and maintain a high-impact library of sales enablement tools (e.g., pitch decks, demos, battlecards, and talk tracks) and develop materials to drive user adoption, highlight new features, and communicate value to existing customers for retention. Train revenue teams and measure the usage and effectiveness of enablement materials.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to produce blogs, social posts, case studies, solution pages, webinars, and thought leadership grounded in customer value.
  • Influence in‑product messaging, onboarding, and nurture programs to drive activation, expansion, and retention.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer and market inside the product development process, bringing quantitative data and qualitative insights to roadmap discussions to influence product development.
  • Measure success by impact on key business metrics such as sales pipeline generated/influenced, win rates, product adoption rates, and customer retention/expansion.
  • Collaborate with Product and Finance teams to manage and optimize pricing and packaging strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-7+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably within a B2B SaaS company.
  • Direct experience in the EdTech industry or experience marketing/selling to the higher education sector is a major advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in tools for conducting competitive analysis and market research.
  • Comfort using product analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Google Analytics) to understand usage and adoption metrics.
  • Familiarity with CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot).
  • Experience with sales enablement platforms, such as Highspot, to drive content usage and measure effectiveness.

Other Skills

  • Ability to distill complex information into simple, persuasive narratives (empathetic storytelling, not just feature listing).
  • Strategic Thinking: Can see the big picture, connect product features to market needs and business goals, and drive strategy.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead projects across multiple departments (Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success) without direct authority; acts as a cross-functional "hub."
  • Comfortable using market research, customer data, and product analytics to guide strategy.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Nuanced understanding of the higher education market (sales cycles, academic/budget calendars, key conferences/publications).
