We are looking for a skilled Product Designer to create intuitive, elegant, and functional experiences across our K–12 digital learning products. As part of the Product-Led Growth (PLG) Design Team, this role partners with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Curriculum, and Data to deliver engaging, accessible, and easy-to-navigate experiences for students, educators, and administrators.

The Product Designer contributes to the end-to-end design process—from understanding user needs and defining interaction models to prototyping, testing, and refining solutions. Success in this role requires strong systems thinking, a user-centered mindset, and the ability to translate complex problems into simple, scalable experiences that balance user needs with business goals and technical constraints. This role has no formal people-management responsibilities.

In This Role You Will:

Product & Experience Design
• Solve complex problems through simple, elegant, and accessible user experiences
• Design user-centered solutions that improve learning, teaching, and administrative workflows across K–12 environments
• Translate product requirements and user insights into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
• Define information architecture, interaction patterns, and end-to-end user flows for multiple personas

Collaboration & Agile Execution
• Partner with Product Managers and Engineers in Agile workstreams to deliver sprint outcomes and business objectives
• Collaborate with researchers and data partners to translate qualitative and quantitative insights into design decisions
• Participate in critiques by sharing work, giving and receiving feedback, and contributing to strong design practices and shared standards
• Document and deliver clear design specifications, assets, and annotations to support efficient development handoff

Systems Thinking & Design Consistency
• Apply and contribute to the Discovery Education design system and component library
• Ensure visual, interaction, and accessibility consistency across features and platforms
• Design solutions that scale across devices and support diverse and international audiences

User Insight & Continuous Improvement
• Support and conduct user research (e.g., surveys, interviews, usability testing) to identify needs and validate concepts
• Synthesize research, feedback, and data insights into clear problem statements and design opportunities
• Iterate through prototyping and testing, refining designs based on performance data and customer feedback
• Balance user needs with business objectives and technical constraints

Core Competencies for Success:
• Customer Focus: Uses research, feedback, and data insights to design accessible K–12 experiences that address real user needs across personas.
• Manages Complexity: Translates complex requirements and workflows into clear information architecture, user flows, and interaction models that scale across products and devices.
• Collaborates: Partners effectively with Product, Engineering, Research, Curriculum, and Data teams in Agile workstreams to align, iterate, and deliver outcomes.
• Communicates Effectively: Clearly explains design rationale and delivers usable artifacts (prototypes, specs) that enable feedback, decisions, and efficient development handoff.
• Plans and Aligns: Organizes design work to support sprint execution, manages priorities and tradeoffs, and keeps stakeholders aligned on scope and timelines.

Credentials and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of experience designing digital products (SaaS preferred) in an Agile development environment
• Proficiency with modern product design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) and collaboration/handoff workflows (e.g., Jira, Confluence, or similar)
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices (e.g., WCAG)
• Experience designing complex workflows and multi-persona experiences
• Experience supporting and conducting user research and usability testing
• Portfolio demonstrating strong product thinking, design process, and impact
• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions
• Legal right to work in the United States
