About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Automation Developer to join our AI-first Python automation team. We build and run financial-data automation at scale: web automation, ETL pipelines, and integrations that feed a large data platform.
Everything we build, we build with AI - using external coding agents and the agents, tools, and internal ecosystem we develop ourselves. Typing code is no longer the constraint here. Specifying intent clearly and reviewing output rigorously is. You need strong fundamentals, because that is how you judge what an agent produces, and the fluency to direct agents fast without losing control of correctness, security, or maintainability.

What you’ll do

• Build and maintain Playwright (Python) web-automation and extraction pipelines, using LLMs where they earn their place - resilience to DOM changes, structured data from messy HTML and PDFs - with schema validation and deterministic fallbacks to keep cost, latency, and hallucination under control.
• Design and own Python ETL pipelines and REST API integrations that feed financial data into our platform, including their data-correctness guarantees.
• Build and extend our agent ecosystem: agents, MCP servers and other agent-callable tools with safe auth and read-only scoping, and the internal tooling and shared knowledge the team relies on.
• Direct coding agents day to day: write a spec and step plan that is reviewed before any code is generated, give the agent the right context, and review its diffs critically.
• Write unit, integration, and regression tests, including eval sets that catch quality regressions when a prompt or model version changes.
• Debug and fix production issues in automations that run unattended on a schedule, and improve their reliability and performance.
• Create and maintain SQL stored procedures and views.
• Work with project managers, product owners, and developers on design, estimates, and priorities.
  

What you bring:

• 5+ years of professional Python and SQL experience.
• Strong web automation and scraping experience, ideally with Playwright.
• Hands-on REST API design, integration, and debugging.
• Solid ETL and data-pipeline experience, with the discipline that makes financial data trustworthy.
• A habit of automated testing (unit and integration), including the tests others skip.
• Working knowledge of pandas / numpy, Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, and Git-based workflows.
• Daily use of a coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) for real implementation, debugging, and refactoring on a production codebase. You can walk us through a recent feature you built with an agent: what you delegated, what you kept, where it went wrong, and how you caught it.
• Hands-on experience building agentic systems - agents, MCP servers, or tools that safely expose an internal API or database to an agent (Claude Code / Anthropic SDK, LangGraph, n8n, or similar).
• Critical review of agent diffs for correctness, security (injection, secrets handling, path traversal and SSRF in scrapers), hidden complexity, and silent scope creep.
• Strong debugging skills and a system-oriented mindset.

Nice to have:

• Django, ideally including migrations and running an app in production.
• RAG and knowledge-base engineering: chunking, embeddings, hybrid retrieval, and measuring retrieval quality.
• Systematic evaluation of AI outputs: LLM-as-judge and its pitfalls, tracking accuracy and cost across model versions.
• Multi-agent orchestration, and knowing when one agent beats three.
• Selenium, C#, Bash or PowerShell, CI/CD, scheduling (cron, Airflow, Windows Task Scheduler), and monitoring tools.

• You’re opinionated about AI in your workflow: you can argue when an agent is the right tool and when a 20-line deterministic function, a SQL view, or a plain script wins on cost, reliability, and auditability.
• You own what ships, whoever or whatever wrote it. You don’t merge work you can’t fully explain, and if something you shipped breaks in production, you own the fix and the prevention.
• You build software that runs correctly while nobody is watching - guardrails and evals, not demos that work once.
• You work autonomously, communicate design through clear written specs, stay curious, and raise the bar for the whole team.
