Senior IT Support Specialist

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Patch, optimize, secure and manage virtual and physical servers on MS Windows.
  • Work with 24x7 onshore/offshore teams to support production and non-production Servers (VMware and AWS).
  • Provide support for onsite and remote associates via Incidents and Service Requests related to virtual servers, client PCs, applications, peripherals, client networking (wired and wireless) etc.
  • Provides 1st/2nd level troubleshooting and proactively maintain end user systems and ensure smooth operations (Includes but not limited to MS Windows and Apple OS)
  • Knowledge to use Networking tools like – Telnet, Nslookup, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine whether their applicability aligns with the business’ needs.
  • Provide mentoring and act as second level escalation to junior staff members such as NOC and Helpdesk administrators, Service Desk teams.
  • Participate in daily huddles, weekly and monthly meetings and report priorities, status updates, and any blockers
  • Proactively communicate the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues.
  • Be available for off-hours support, in case of emergencies, and for occasional onsite and off-site executive and company meetings
  • Follow and help create standard procedures
  • Assist IT staff in vendor coordination and management
  • Team player and work as instructed by senior mentors & documents all the changes and follow all IT policies and standards.
  • No Issues in working in night shifts or during weekends/holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned of a similar nature or level.

Required Skills set and experience:

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Exceptionally positive attitude and communication skills for working with both IT team and Executives
  • Experience with supporting Microsoft technologies; Windows Server OS, IIS,AD, DNS, DHCP, Systems Center
  • Expert experience supporting Window Server, MS Windows10 and Apple OS X
  • Experienced with desktop virtualization products such as VMWare, parallels, Citrix.
  • Strong and knowledgeable on MS Office 2019+, MS Visio and MS Power Point applications
  • Experienced with VPN, desktop backup software, Apple iPhones, Apple iPads, printers.
  • Experienced with password resets, new account creations, email administration, VM patching and maintenance
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Managing Incident, Problem, Service Request and Change Management through an IT Service Management Tool (e.g. Remedy, Fresh Service, ServiceNow)
  • General understanding with structured cabling best practices and racking servers and basic network switch configurations
  • General understanding of telephony and PBX support
  • Experience with FreeBSD, UNIX, Linux and open source tools a plus


Education:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of IT experience
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies; Windows Server OS, IIS, AD, DNS,DHCP,Systems Center.
  • Experience with managing VMs running on VMware VCenter and AWS.
  • Certification as a MCITP Enterprise/MCM/MCSE or equivalent system engineering expertise preferred.
  • Experience with some form of scripting language such as powershell and bash is plus
  • Basic knowledge of Linux and AWS.
