Job Title: Senior Cyber Engineer

Work Location: Onsite – Washington DC

Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday – Friday, flex arrival and departure times within core hours of customer operation.

Position Summary:
Forcepoint is one of the world’s largest private cybersecurity companies. As a Cyber Security Engineer at Forcepoint, you will be joining our professional services engineering team. The work is challenging and provides support to a single customer site. Supporting a single customer environment will require you to troubleshoot and resolve a wide variety of issues independently. While you’ll have reach back to other engineering staff, you’ll be expected to be a self-starter and multitask, while still communicating effectively with customer and engineering management. The ideal candidate will have previous experience providing administrator or SME level support for endpoint security solutions, such as HBSS, Tanium, Digital Guardian, etc.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Installing, maintaining, upgrading/patching, and troubleshooting the Windows or RHEL 8.x OS used by Forcepoint products onsite in physical and virtualized environments.

  • Working with helpdesk and development team staff to address issues or bugs discovered in products onsite.

  • Creating, maintaining, upgrading/patching, and troubleshooting ESXi or Hyper-V hosted virtual machines.

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting the performance of Forcepoint products onsite.

  • Reviewing, applying, and remediating security vulnerabilities or security controls based on STIG guidance or scanning reports.

  • Installing firmware updates on physical hardware components, such DellEMC or HPE servers, SANs, switches, etc.

  • Working with onsite government, contractor, or subcontractor staff to resolve issues with onsite products as first line of support.

  • Assisting in the lifting/racking and cabling of physical hardware. **

  • Possibility of 10% or less travel to customer coop site locations.

  • Other duties as assigned***

Things You Must Have to Apply:

  • An active (currently in use) – TS/SCI

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, or equivalent education and/or work experience.

  • At least one DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification at IAT level II (2) or higher.
    Required only for DoD professional services roles.

  • The ability to obtain the appropriate work authorizations that may be required under U.S. ITAR or EAR regulations from the applicable U.S government agency.

  • 8+ years’ experience performing the following tasks:

  • Installing, maintaining, upgrading/patching, and troubleshooting the Windows or RHEL 8.x OS used by Forcepoint products onsite in physical and virtualized environments.

  • Working with helpdesk and development team staff to address issues or bugs discovered in products onsite.

  • Creating, maintaining, upgrading/patching, and troubleshooting ESXi or Hyper-V hosted virtual machines.

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting the performance of Forcepoint products onsite.

  • Reviewing, applying, and remediating security vulnerabilities or security controls based on STIG guidance or scanning reports.

  • Installing firmware updates on physical hardware components, such DellEMC or HPE servers, SANs, switches, etc.

  • Deep understanding of the following information technology areas:

  • Routing, switching, TCP/UDP/SSH/FTP/SCP/HTTPS protocols.

  • Creating, renewing, installing, and troubleshooting secure certificates for use on web servers/sites, appliances, or networking hardware.

Things That Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, GovCloud, or Google Cloud.

  • Experience working with N-Tier architecture.

  • Windows and Linux scripting.

  • Certifications from vendors, such as: Cisco, McAfee, Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, Symantec, or VMware.

  • 5 ESXi Hosts

  • 20 VM’s running primarily an RHEL 8.x OS and a few running Windows server.
