About the Role

We at GoodRx are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Observability team. As a member of the Observability team, you will be responsible for helping team members with the technical aspects of their jobs, and help troubleshoot any problems that may arise. You will also be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining systems that enable comprehensive observability of our software applications and infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies. You will also be coordinating with team members in daily or weekly forums ensuring the right work is being prioritized that aligns with business growth and deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain our observability systems and tools to monitor, measure, and analyze the performance, availability, and reliability of our software applications and infrastructure.
  • Enrich our culture of collaboration by enabling teams to understand and monitor their own services.
  • Promote opportunities for enhanced observability, refactoring, and identify areas of optimization.
  • Research and leverage Datadog product features, libraries, and patterns that can be used to enhance telemetry for teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine SLOs and dashboards following industry standards for tracing, metrics, and logging.
  • Participate in incident response and troubleshooting efforts, leveraging observability data to help triage root causes and drive effective resolutions.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seasoned and experienced developer with 5+ years of software development or equivalent experience, with a focus on observability, monitoring, or performance engineering.
  • Experience in creating process, tooling, and visibility on product observability, enabling teams to have a 24/7 view into their services in Production.
  • You strive for design simplicity and consistency above all else.
  • Experience with Datadog and PagerDuty.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to, adapt to our technology stack: GoLang, Typescript, Python, GraphQL, Kubernetes, AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Postgres, Kafka.
  • Previous experience monitoring a production service from a DevOps or SRE perspective.
  • Effective remote collaboration skills with distributed teams.
  • Self-motivated with ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a passion for problem solving / innovating with the development teams.
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.

Compensation decisions are determined using a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, and education or certifications. If we extend an offer for employment, we will consider all individual qualifications. Below are our salary ranges for this position based on office location:
San Francisco Office: $161,000 - $257,000
New York Office: $147,000 - $235,000
