About the Role

Our mission is to help people save money on the prescription drugs they need to get healthy lives and make healthcare more accessible and affordable.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Observability team. As a member of the Observability team, you will be responsible for helping team members with the technical aspects of their jobs and helping troubleshoot any problems that may arise. You will also be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining systems that enable comprehensive observability of our software applications and infrastructure.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies. You will also be coordinating with team members in daily or weekly forums ensuring the right work is being prioritized that aligns with business growth and deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain our observability systems and tools to monitor, measure, and analyze the performance, availability, and reliability of our software applications and infrastructure.

  • Enrich our culture of collaboration by enabling teams to understand and monitor their own services.

  • Promote opportunities for enhanced observability, refactoring, and identify areas of optimization.

  • Research and leverage Open Telemetry and Sentry product features, libraries, and patterns that can be used to enhance telemetry for teams.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement standards for tracing, metrics, and logging.

  • Work with SRE to improve incident detection by maintaining and ensuring monitoring best practices across teams.

  • Observability is a practice which involves instructing all engineers on the basic principles of telemetry and debugging distributed systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Engineering background with practical experience in deploying and managing services from inception.

  • Proficiency in AWS and GCP cloud environments.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or Go.

  • Expertise in version control with Git.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm for container orchestration.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret logs, metrics, and traces from a developer’s perspective.

  • Proven track record in creating and maintaining dashboards, alerts, and reports to provide actionable insights into system performance and availability.

  • Excellent communication skills, adept at responding to developer inquiries and collaborating across functions.

Nice To Have:

  • Advanced proficiency in infrastructure-as-code for developing flexible configuration structures across multi-cloud environments, emphasizing intuitive design principles.

  • Strong capability in troubleshooting distributed services using logs, metrics, and traces.

  • Experience in mapping dependencies in Datadog and implementing patterns using OpenTelemetry.

  • Familiarity with managing observability backends such as Prometheus, Cortex, AlertManager, or Thanos.

Engineering teams are responsible for supporting appropriate security controls, including management, operational, and technical controls in addition to general GoodRx best practices, such as reading and adhering to the security policies and procedures, being vigilant and observant of potential security threats, etc.

At GoodRx, pay ranges are determined based on work locations and may vary based on where the successful candidate is hired. The pay ranges below are shown as a guideline, and the successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and other relevant business and organizational factors. $161,000.00 - $257,000.00

New York Office:

$147,000.00 - $235,000.00

Santa Monica Office:

$134,000.00 - $214,000.00

Other Office Locations:

$121,000.00 - $193,000.00
