The Software Engineer (Frontend) predominantly works on projects utilising web front-end technologies but can also undertake full stack project builds including both back-end and front-end technologies.
The Software Engineer (Frontend) works with existing known technologies but also investigates new technologies and identifies application opportunities to new or existing products / projects applying the technology best fit-for-purpose. Working in an agile approach, you are expected to plan, prototype and build applications, in part or in full, whilst working as an individual or in a team.
The role is very much R&D orientated with prototypes & proof-of-concepts as common outputs refined through ongoing stakeholder feedback. Innovation, problem solving, and excellent technical skills are essential to this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain & evolve existing software suite focussing on the frontend
- Build of new products in part or full
- Working on SaaS platforms and bespoke projects
- Research new and existing technologies.
- Presentation of technology opportunities to stakeholders.
- Build of prototypes and proof of concepts.
- Basic creation of high-level technical documentation and specifications.
- Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all IT business information.
- Working with established production processes but always looking for areas of improvement in efficencies.
Technical Competencies:
- HTML(5)
- CSS(3)
- JavaScript (inc es6) / JQuery
- MVC frameworks; Angular(4+) / Vue.js / React
- Basic server side knowledge e.g. PHP / Node.js
- Basic database knowledge e.g. MySQL / NoSQL
- Basic understanding of version control systems (git/svn)
- Experience with restful API’s
- Basic Photoshop experience
- Awareness of some of the basic Amazon Web Services (S3, DynamoDB, EC2)
- Serverless / SAM frameworks for AWS deployments
- Unit testing; Jasmine / Karma / Jest / Istanbul

Required Experience:
- 2 or more years’ experience within their respective field.
- Exposure to CMS platforms (Wordpress / Joomla / Drupal / OctoberCMS or custom made)
- Commercial experience working with frontend technologies
- Experience in creation of technical documentation
- Basic backend development (advantageous)
