Lead Developer
A lead developer is responsible for helping their team in all aspects of software development. Their primary role is to upgrade and enhance the codebase(s) managed by their team by implementing features, architectural enhancements, bug fixes, peer reviews, testing, and documentation. Lead developers will serve as HR managers for the developers on their team and they will be the primary point of contact for anything technical in nature within the team while directing and guiding the team in design, coding, testing, and research.
Lead developers work closely with Product Managers to enhance and maintain Keyloop's suite of large-scale global applications with established methodologies and software development patterns. They will use their years of experience and expertise to ensure that code being written, by themselves and their peers, meet the standards of a high performing enterprise application by performing code reviews and mentoring the other developers. The Lead developer role is technical in nature;however the successful applicant will demonstrate people management skills and the ability to encourage, motivate, and help to grow the skills of their team.
The successful applicant will participate in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) ceremonies such as SCRUM, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, and PI planning activities. They will also be included in discussions surrounding the direction of Keyloop's products and provide suggestions for architectural and quality of life improvements to continually improve the quality of our code and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation of reliable and high performing technical solutions based on evolving business and customer requirements
  • Refactor and create abstractions to simplify components and libraries and promote code re-use
  • Apply foresight to look beyond immediate requirements for future extensibility
  • Stay up to date and spread knowledge on new and established development tools, technologies, and techniques
  • Work with the Product Manager to evaluate requirements and initial mock-ups to provide technical recommendations and designs
  • Write thorough and easy to understand technical documentation for new and existing enhancements
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize and present complex solutions clearly and accurately
  • Work closely with team members and Product Managers to estimate and prioritize technical and business enhancements
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Diligent unit testing and debugging of application components as necessary
  • Peer-review pull requests and provide constructive feedback to all team members
  • Look for opportunities to improve the skills of individuals on the team
  • Write performance reviews in their role as an HR manager
  • Ensures the team is optimized and delivering as efficiently as possible
  • Communicates with other teams when necessary to ensure coordinated delivery of solutions
  • Attendance management, including approval of time off requests
  • Delivery of Performance reviews
  • Making recommendations for promotions
  • Performance issue management

  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ Years of practical working experience in .NET (C#) and ASP.NET
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and grow the skills of small team of developers
  • Understanding of SOLID principles, Dependency Injection, asynchronous execution, composition over inheritance
  • Experience in relational database design and normalization
  • Experience in REST API design principles
  • Experience with XML and SOAP protocols
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks, such as: xUnit, nUnit, Moq, nSubstitute
  • Experience in modern version control (ex. GitHub)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (ex. GitHub Actions)

Nice to Have Skills and Qualifications:

  • Some experience working with event based solutions and message bus design patterns (RabbitMQ)
  • Experience in cloud environments (preferably AWS)
  • Experience using API testing tools such as Postman
  • Understanding of DDD concepts
  • Understanding of CQRS principles
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment
