Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive AIX Administrator to join our 24/7 Operations Center, operating from the office. This role involves providing L2+ level support, ensuring the health, availability, and performance of our AIX environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in AIX OS administration, patching, and troubleshooting, with the ability to react swiftly to alerts and resolve issues effectively.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Respond to and resolve support incidents, automated alerts, and product issues generated by monitoring tools.
- Perform AIX OS patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation to maintain compliance and stability.
- Administer and manage LPARs, VIOS, and HMC, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor system health and performance, addressing issues related to CPU, memory, storage, and networking.
- Support DR activities, system backups, and restore operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the AIX technology stack using technical and analytical skills.
- Provide empathetic and customer-focused responses to internal and external stakeholders, acknowledging operational pressures.
- Ensure timely and effective communication of incidents to business units, leadership, and customers.
- Maintain and contribute to documentation, such as knowledge base articles, runbooks, and resolution steps.
- Log incidents, ensuring all necessary fields are completed, and close cases in line with SLAs/OLAs.
- Take ownership of technical issues and escalate them to higher support levels when needed.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
Essential skillsets :
- 3–6 years of hands-on AIX administration experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in AIX patching, fix packs, and upgrades.
- Experience with LPAR, VIOS, and HMC administration.
- Proficiency in managing volume groups, file systems, and SAN connectivity.
- Experience in troubleshooting connectivity, performance, and OS-level issues.
- Familiarity with backup solutions (e.g., TSM, NetBackup, or Rubrik).
- Basic scripting skills (KornShell, Bash, or Python) for automation.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a strong team player attitude.
- Ability to prioritize workload and understand the importance of flexibility and customer service.
- Capability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently and escalate complex issues when required.
- Ability to work unsupervised when necessary, including on-call support outside of standard hours.
- Good understanding of Data Center facilities, AWS, and core infrastructure.
Desirable:
- Exposure to PowerHA clustering and high availability setups.
- Experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools that support proactive interventions to prevent service impact.
- Understanding of ITIL or other service management frameworks.
- Previous experience working in a 24/7 Infrastructure Operations environment.
IMPORTANT
- This position is work from Keyloop operational centre, requiring presence during all shifts, including nights and weekends as part of the 24/7 Operations Center and office cab transport is provided for all shifts
