Junior Analyst, Corporate Finance

The Role
Joining a global Corporate Finance team, the Deals Junior Analyst will be based in our London office and highly involved with Kobalt’s deal processes. Working closely with our A&R, senior management and legal teams, the deals team provides financial analysis to support the signing of artists and songwriters, catalogue acquisitions and assists with financial forecasting activities.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with the A&R team to analyse new signings and support negotiations.
- Manage financial models in excel to evaluate the value of musical assets through streaming data analysis and forecasting of royalty cash flows to assess potential new signings and suggest offers for the A&R team.
- Prepare investment memos with key deal findings to be reviewed by A&R and the senior management team.
- Assist senior members of the team with catalogue acquisitions by setting up financial models, using SQL to pull data and finding metadata.
- Complete analysis to refine investment assumptions and conduct industry and deal specific research or support the team with various presentations.
- Adopt new tools to assist with process improvements.
What You’ll Bring
- A strong interest in music and a desire to make the industry more fair and rewarding for creators.
- A relevant background in Finance, including Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting or economics, or experience in a finance or music working environment.
- Proficiency in Excel (SUMIFS, INDEXMATCH, IFS).
- Ability to formulate opinions and discuss merits and weaknesses of potential investments.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, ensuring clear and accurate presentation of findings to stakeholders.
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks, data inputs and stakeholders within tight deadlines in a highly productive environment.
- An interest in automation, process optimisation, or using tech tools to improve workflows.
Additional Skills That Could Add Value:
- Desire to learn/Interest SQL, Python, or Tableau.
- Knowledge of the music industry, especially publishing or recorded music deal structures.
- Interest in developing technical skills and improving processes.
What Success Looks Like
In 1 month: Working alongside a more senior analyst, you will assist with live deals while starting to build relationships with the A&R and legal team and understand basics of the publishing industry.
In 3 months: Develop independence in initial steps of the deal process and data gathering. Continued understanding of Kobalt's internal systems and processes and development of excel and SQL skills.
In 6 months: Self-sufficient with picking up more straight forward deals Taking on ad-hoc pieces of financial analysis that contribute to investment assumptions and strategic team goals.

- Interviews with the hiring managers (Emma & Greg)
- Final stage interviews
