The Role
As a Manager, Copyright and W&PR, you’ll play a key part in growing our client services and Copyright within one of our regional offices. You’ll play an essential role in providing top notch client service and resolving issues with our local societies.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for operational excellence. You'll work cross-functionally with other teams and help drive improvements in how we serve creators around the world.
What You’ll Do
- You provide support to the Kobalt Writer and Publisher Relations team and Miami-based Operations team with scheduled administrative tasks as well as responding to queries from Kobalt’s clients.
- You ensure that Kobalt has all relevant information concerning existing compositions prior to signing new agreements and assist with client agreement onboarding and catalog ingestion.
- You maintain and optimize client account information, ensuring that Kobalt is well-positioned for efficient catalog registration, royalty collection, and ongoing administration for the duration of our clients’ publishing and administration agreements.
- You work cross-functionally with Kobalt’s Operations department to support the accurate production and distribution of client royalty statements, developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of Kobalt’s services, and its internal systems and operations.
- You help design and develop new processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of team operations.
- You oversee the management of our catalog across Collection Societies and may represent Kobalt externally, in relevant committees and source meetings.
- You provide support and updates to colleagues within Kobalt, with regards to your regional Collection Societies and client accounts.
- You maintain and build fruitful relationships with contacts at external publishers, societies, and sub-publishers and work with them to resolve problematic developments and situations.
- You seek opportunities to improve our registration processes, collaborate with colleagues across various departments to implement new processes, and project-manage areas of development from concept to completion.
- You work closely with your local Managing Director to support clients on the Kobalt roster.
What You’ll Bring
Preferred:
- Relevant industry experience and demonstration of a solid understanding of music publishing, licensing, copyright, and royalty processes.
- You have strong organization and prioritization skills with an ability to remain calm under pressure and complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- You are an excellent communicator-both written and verbal - to a wide-ranging audience including clients, societies, and senior executives.
- You are an adaptable team-player who is confident working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- You must display a high level of trust and integrity as you are exposed to confidential information and material.
- A strong understanding of current industry affairs and are able to analyse data to quantify and explain the impact for Kobalt clients.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting data to make informed business decisions.
- You are familiar with copyright regulations in Latin America, as well as rules and policies of local collection societies.
- You are familiar with common CRM and communication platforms.
Additional Skills That Could Add Value:
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel & Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, large datasets)
- Knowledge of or interest in learning SQL
- Enthusiasm for process improvement and automation
What Success Looks Like
After 1 Month: You have built strong working relationships across Miami Operations and W&PR, understand the active client roster and key society contacts, and are confidently managing day to day queries with accuracy.
After 3 Months: You are independently overseeing regional registrations and society interactions, ensuring smooth onboarding, clean data management, and timely resolution of client and collection society issues.
After 6 Months: You are operating as the trusted regional lead for Copyright and W&PR, driving measurable process improvements, strengthening external relationships, and proactively improving efficiency and client outcomes.
