The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in New York. This role plays a key part in ensuring accuracy, transparency, and operational integrity across Kobalt’s financial reporting and corporate accounting processes.
You will be responsible for managing key elements of the month-end close, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and statutory reporting, while supporting audit readiness and driving continuous process improvement. What You’ll Do
- Own and oversee the month-end close process for the Corporate business unit, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Manage the US payroll accounting process in partnership with People & Culture, ensuring compliance and issue resolution.
- Partner closely with FP&A and People & Culture to support accurate expense reporting and financial analysis.
- Coordinate statutory reporting and audit requirements for overseas subsidiaries, acting as the primary contact for external advisors.
- Support group audit activities by ensuring reconciliations, workpapers, and documentation are complete and audit-ready.
- Oversee global travel and expense systems, including Concur and CWT, and manage the US corporate credit card program.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior accounting staff.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure financial accuracy and alignment across departments.
What You’ll Bring
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, balance sheets, and P&L ownership.
- Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly.
- Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Additional Skills That Could Add Value:
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- CPA license or working toward certification.
- Experience in a global or mid-sized organisation.

By Month 1:
You’ll understand Kobalt’s accounting systems, workflows, and reporting structure, and begin supporting month-end close activities.
By Month 3:
You’ll independently manage key accounting responsibilities, ensuring accuracy and reliability across reconciliations and reporting.
By Month 6:
You’ll be contributing to process improvements, supporting audits confidently, and helping strengthen the overall efficiency and scalability of the accounting function.

The range provided is for NYC-based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations other than NYC may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. Pay range: $80,000 - $90,000
