We are looking for a Technical Owner/Engineering Manager to lead one of our engineering teams. The ideal candidate has experience leading teams through the design, planning, and execution phase of complex software projects. You will have delivered several Software as a Service (SaaS) applications all the way to production. Although this is a manager role, the expectation is that this individual will be spending at least 50% of their time directly contributing to the software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Manage a team of 5-7 individuals with mixed roles including software engineers, quality assurance, etc.
- Delivery: Ensure your team is creating performant, testable, and well-thought-out software for our production environment.
- Architecture: Guide the team as you use your experience and feedback to iterate through designing scalable solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX/UI design, and QA, to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement features.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Conduct code reviews and mentor other engineers to uphold high coding standards.
- Testing: Implement and maintain robust testing strategies to ensure the reliability and performance of the content authoring tool. Utilize automated testing frameworks where appropriate.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Propose and implement improvements to the development process, tools, and practices.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the content authoring tool, including design specifications, API documentation, and user guides.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- At least 8 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on full-stack.
- Has previously led teams of 5-7 individuals.
- Demonstrated experience delivering software in an iterative fashion.
- Technical Skills:
- Full-stack development using C#/.NET and Javascript frameworks such as React.
- Understanding of RDBMS technologies like SQL Server, MySQL, etc.
- Alternative datastores/technologies such as OpenSearch, Redis, and Memcached.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Soft Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to manage software engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and mentor junior team members.
- High sense of urgency with a passion for learning and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Azure and/or AWS.
Salary: $160,000 - $180,000 plus bonus
