We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Vice President of Development to join our organization. As the VP of Development, you will be responsible for leading a large multi-location engineering organization, planning for and overseeing the execution of product roadmaps, and ensuring the successful delivery of our solutions. This is a senior leadership role that requires exceptional organizational and planning skills, expertise in managing complex enterprise scale software in regulated industries (preferably in software based medical device development or healthcare IT) and strong leadership skills.Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead and mentor a cross functional team of project managers, architects, software engineers, designers, testers, quality assurance and regulatory affairs, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
- Provide guidance and support to the development team, ensuring clear communication, resource allocation, and efficient execution of product development projects.
- Develop and nurture a talent pipeline, attracting top talent, and implementing strategies for talent acquisition and retention.
2. Agile Product Development Processes:
- Implement and optimize agile product development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, to ensure efficient and iterative development cycles in a regulated environment.
- Define and enforce best practices for requirements gathering, sprint planning, backlog management, and product delivery.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of high-quality products.
3. Technical Abilities:
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in software development to drive innovation and leverage new tools and frameworks.
- Work closely with the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Architects to ensure adherence to technical best practices and architectural integrity, scalability, and reliability of products.

4. Product Release and Quality Assurance:
- Oversee the product release management process, ensuring proper coordination and seamless integration of features and functionality.
- Define and implement quality assurance processes, standards, and testing strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable products.
- Collaborate closely with quality assurance teams to ensure adequate test coverage, defect management, compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and validation of product functionality.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with executive leadership, product management, sales, and marketing teams to align product development efforts with business objectives and customer needs.
- Provide regular updates on product development initiatives, progress, and challenges to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Foster strong relationships with customers, partners, and external stakeholders to gather feedback, validate product direction, and drive customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced business degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
- Proven track record of at least 10 years in product development or software engineering leadership roles, with substantial experience in managing development of complex enterprise scale software leading a large team.
- Deep understanding of software development methodologies, including agile practices, and proficiency in modern development frameworks and tools.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to align product development initiatives with overall business goals.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex software products on time and within budget.
- Passion for innovation, emerging technologies, and creating cutting-edge solutions.
