We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join the Merge Healthcare medical imaging business of our dynamic health tech company, Merative. As the CTO, you will be responsible for leading our technology strategy, overseeing the architecture of our imaging solutions, researching into new and emerging technologies in medical imaging and cloud operations of our released products. This is a senior leadership role that requires a deep understanding of healthcare technology, excellent strategic thinking, and strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Technology Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the company's overall vision and goals.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance our product offerings and competitive advantage.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and technological advancements in healthcare to develop suitable technology strategy for product development.

2. Technical Leadership:

  • Lead a team of software architects, engineers, developers, and IT professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team, ensuring high-quality technology practices, architectural integrity, and efficient project execution.
  • Drive the recruitment, training, and development of technical talent to build a high-performing and diverse team.

4. Technical Expertise:

  • Collaborate with engineering and technology teams to define and maintain scalable and reliable technical architectures to support product development.
  • Support technical discussions with customers to evangelize product architecture and technology strategy

3. Product Development and Management:

  • Support product management, and product development leadership in defining and prioritizing technology roadmap and enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with product development leadership to support execution of product roadmap

4. Technology Infrastructure:

  • -Manage the cloud infrastructure and production operations of our products and solutions
  • Define and implement a robust technology infrastructure, including cloud computing, data storage, and networking solutions, to support our growing business needs.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and data security protocols to protect sensitive health information and ensure business continuity.
  • Evaluate and select third-party vendors and technology partners, managing relationships to optimize performance and value.

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership, stakeholders, and clients to understand their technology needs, align solutions with business requirements, and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Present technology strategies, updates, and recommendations to the board of directors, investors, customers and external partners.
  • Build strategic relationships with key industry influencers, research organizations, and technology providers to stay ahead of industry developments and foster partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in senior technology leadership roles, with substantial experience in architecting enterprise scale cloud solutions in the health tech industry.
  • Deep understanding of medical imaging technologies and standards, including FHIR, DICOM, HL7, public cloud infrastructure technologies, , medical devices, data analytics, and security standards (e.g., HITRUST, SOC2).
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align technology initiatives with organizational objectives and drive innovation.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire technical teams.
  • Experience in agile software development methodologies, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and DevOps practices.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
