An Application Packager plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth software deployment and management within an organization. They specialize in creating custom software packages that meet the specific needs of Merative. Let’s delve into the details of their responsibilities and qualifications:

Responsibilities:

Package Creation and Modification:

• Create and/or modify scripts and script wrappers for application installations. Experience with psapp deploy toolkit.

• Troubleshoot and resolve application and package issues.

• Assist with automated deployments of packaged software.

1. Collaboration and Documentation:

• Work closely with IT engineering teams.

• Update documentation as needed.

• Document processes related to packaging.

2. Technical Expertise:

• Coordinate desktop security updates to ensure compliance while minimizing operational risk.

• Provide input into strategic direction and offer technical leadership within the App Delivery team.

• Implement process and technical improvements, including process documentation and compliance enhancements.

3. Application Packaging:

• Create application packages in formats such as MSI and/or Virtual (App-V and ThinApp).

• Create and deploy macOS application.

• Maintain Windows updates using Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune).

• Experience with Operating system patching using Microsoft Endpoint Manager. • Experience with threat vulnerability management (TVM).

• Develop deployment plans that mitigate risk and minimize conflicts.

4. Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate with Information Security and Line of Business (LOB) associates to understand desktop requirements and challenges.

• Engage with Application Owners, Developers, and Vendors to develop appropriate technical solutions.

5. Feedback and Support:

• Partner with support teams to ensure awareness of desktop changes and gather feedback.

• Remediate issues discovered during testing or deployment.

Qualifications:

1. Education and Certifications:

• Preferred degrees include Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Technical, Management Information Systems, or related fields.

• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, ITIL, MCSE, MCSA, PRINCE, or SME are beneficial.

2. Skills:

• Active Directory management and modification.

• Microsoft Registry and ability to query.

• PowerShell scripting and macOS shell scripting.

• Familiarity with Windows server and desktop operating systems.

• VBScript and C# knowledge.

• Understanding of ITIL principles.

• Experience with OS X and Windows products and configuration.

3. Desired Experience:

• 5-8 years of relevant experience and troubleshooting application packages in case of failure.

• Maintaining high-quality deliverables.

• Providing third-level support for packages, deployment, and Windows update issues.

• Collaborating with project teams for packaging and deployment support.

• Coordinate desktop security updates to ensure compliance while minimizing operational risk and impact.

• Provide input into strategic direction and provide technical leadership within the App Delivery team.

• Own and implement process and technical improvements including process documentation and compliance improvements.

• Create partnerships with Information Security, M365 and device team to understand the desktop requirements and challenges.

• Engage Application Owners/Developers/Vendors as needed to develop appropriate technical solutions.

• Create application packages in MSI and/or Virtual format (App-V and Thinapp).

• Create deployment plans that mitigate risk, minimize conflict, and maximize level of effort.

• Create partnerships with support teams ensuring they’re aware of desktop changes and have an opportunity to provide feedback.

• Remediate issues discovered during testing or deployment.
