The Global Tax Manager will provide leadership, policy definition and risk management to the Tax function across the Company’s global footprint. This includes oversight of outsourced compliance, engagement management, full audit cycle and post audit controversy resolution, planning, implementation of planning opportunities, risk management and sales contract oversight for taxes.Responsibilities:
Manage worldwide income tax compliance with support from third party tax advisors
Support third party tax advisors with accounting for income taxes
Manage various indirect tax aspects of our global businesses, inclusive of the sales and use, VAT and property tax function
Ensure compliance with US and offshore regulations for indirect taxes
Lead and manage sales and use, and property tax audits
Collaborates with senior business leaders to resolve highly complex indirect tax issues and coordinate with various business resources to enable effective, efficient, and compliant tax processing and reporting.
Liaise with finance / shared services in respect of issues identified during indirect tax compliance process (e.g., incorrect invoice postings)
Liaise with finance and accounting for tax reserve planning and management
Lead tax processing and reporting improvements to improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal alignment
Keep software solutions for indirect tax automation up to date and maintained.
Identify potential compliance issues and recommend solutions.
Communicate and consult with senior management on strategic indirect tax- related issues.
Provide support to representations made by the company to external stakeholders, such as tax authorities.
Maintains current market trends knowledge and keeps abreast of latest developments as they affect Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the company's standards and policies.
Coordinate with third party advisors, as required, who may assist in managing all or some of the above
Required Professional & Technical Experience:
7+ years of related Tax experience in the US with exposure and experience globally.
2+ years of previous supervisory or leadership experience.
Experience with US Direct and indirect tax compliance and state tax audits
Experience directly interacting with US state and local tax authorities
Familiarity and experience with global VAT systems desired
Up to date on current sales and use tax practices and technical issues
Strong project management and organization skills
Capable of working independently while acting as part of an outsourced global tax team
Capable of leading tax projects with cross-functional dependencies
Working experience in multinational environments
Confidence, poise, and diplomacy when interacting with all levels of management and tax authorities
Ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise manner in both written and verbal presentations
Demonstrated passion and track record of delivering results in a rapidly changing business environment
Strong client focus; good listening, negotiation, and problem resolution skills
A great sense of accuracy
Strong issue identification and mitigation skills
Ability to think about issues relating to treasury or financial accounting, in addition to tax-related matters.
Currently holds a similar position or is a Tax Manager/Senior Manager at an accounting firm
Strong working knowledge of federal and multistate tax law, particularly in the areas of sales/use and property tax, and Accounting for Income Taxes under IAS 12 and ASC 740.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, tax research software, and tax return preparation software
Education:
Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in Tax, Legal, or Accounting. Advanced degree preferred.
