The Role

Ready to transform health plan and government outcomes through data, analytics, and insights?

We’re seeking a Strategic Account Executive (SAE) – Health Plan & Government Market, a senior-level sales leader responsible for owning, growing, and renewing strategic relationships with health plans, state Medicaid agencies, government health programs, and related public-sector stakeholders.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across commercial and public markets—bringing the full power of Truven’s analytics, claims data, advisory services, and program performance tools to their most pressing challenges. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex, consultative sales, understands healthcare payer dynamics deeply, and can navigate long sales cycles, procurement processes, and multi‑stakeholder decision pathways.

How you will contribute:

  • Own a portfolio of strategic health plan and government accounts, serving as the primary relationship owner and executive sponsor.

  • Develop and execute account growth strategies that align Truven solutions to client needs, program priorities, and population health objectives.

  • Lead complex sales cycles, including RFPs, procurement processes, state procurement portals, budget cycles, and multi‑year contracting.

  • Identify opportunities for expansion across analytics, data solutions, MarketScan data, advisory services, and performance improvement programs.

  • Conduct high‑impact presentations and solution discussions with senior leaders (C‑suite, policy leaders, program directors, actuarial leaders, and clinical quality teams).

  • Partner closely with internal teams—Product, Marketing, Delivery, Analytics, and Customer Success—to ensure seamless execution and aligned messaging.

  • Analyze account performance, market trends, policy shifts, and competitive intelligence to anticipate client needs and shape renewal/expansion strategies.

  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline visibility, and CRM hygiene for territory planning.

  • Represent Truven at key industry events (e.g., AHIP, NASHP, Medicaid conferences) to elevate brand presence and strengthen market relationships.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in healthcare payer, government, or analytics solution sales.

  • Proven ability to manage and grow large complex accounts with multi-year sales cycles.

  • Deep understanding of the health plan and/or government payer landscape, including Medicaid/Medicare programs, plan operations, quality measures, clinical programs, and population health.

  • Experience with government procurement, RFP development, compliance requirements, and cross‑functional bid management (preferred).

  • Ability to consultatively sell high‑value analytical and data‑driven solutions to sophisticated buyers.

  • Executive presence and confidence in leading strategic discussions, from operational leaders to senior government officials.

  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to align internal and external stakeholders toward shared goals.

  • A self‑starter mindset with a strong track record of achieving and surpassing revenue and retention goals.

  • Experience collaborating closely with product and delivery teams to craft client‑specific solution strategies.

  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and storytelling abilities.

  • Travel expectation of 30% onsite with customers.
