The role is accountable for transforming CI/CD practices, DevOps maturity, deployment automation, GitHub platform governance, application packaging, environment management, reliability engineering, performance engineering, and API/integration delivery. The successful candidate will partner closely with Architecture, Product Management, Security, Quality Engineering, Release Management, Operations and delivery squads to improve software delivery flow, production stability, and engineering productivity.

The role will also lead integration engineering capabilities supporting clinical systems, EHR connectivity, FHIR enablement, secure healthcare interoperability, and strategic API and Agent services. You will own engineering execution, standards, team leadership, vendor coordination, and operational outcomes, while partnering with Product and Architecture on roadmap and technical direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead DevOps, Platform Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Performance Engineering, and API/Integration squads supporting the MDX portfolio.

  • Manage and develop engineers and technical leads, fostering a high-performance engineering culture focused on accountability, automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.

  • Transform DevOps and CI/CD practices across teams, including GitHub platform governance, pipeline standardisation, deployment automation, build quality, developer enablement, and cloud-native delivery practices.

  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, security scanning, quality gates, deployment automation, and release-ready engineering practices.

  • Establish and maintain standards for application packaging, build management, version control, deployment automation, feature flags, configuration management, and environment promotion.

  • Ensure development, QA, staging, performance, and production-support environments remain stable, secure, available, and fit for purpose.

  • Lead reliability, resiliency, scalability, and performance engineering initiatives across applications, APIs, and platform services.

  • Drive implementation of observability, monitoring, alerting, logging, operational dashboards, and performance telemetry.

  • Partner with operational/SRE vendors to define and manage the reliability operating model, including SLIs/SLOs, incident response, escalation paths, runbooks, problem management, operational readiness, and continuous reliability improvement.

  • Partner with Architecture and Development teams to proactively address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, operational risks, and platform scalability challenges.

  • Manage on-call and production incidents, support root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions following incidents.

  • Lead a dedicated API & Integration Squad responsible for secure API development, integration with clinical systems, EHR connectivity, FHIR enablement, healthcare interoperability, and strategic integration services.

  • Establish engineering standards for API design, API security, integration patterns, lifecycle management, testing, observability, FHIR readiness, and operational support.

  • Manage day-to-day operational relationships with engineering vendors and partners, ensuring service quality, delivery performance, reliability outcomes, and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with Release Management to ensure CI/CD tooling, packaging processes, environment readiness, automation, and deployment practices support predictable, lower-risk releases.

  • Drive engineering productivity improvements through automation, AI-assisted engineering practices, modern tooling, and platform standardisation.

  • Build AI-enabled fluency across engineering teams, including practical use of AI-assisted development, delivery planning, documentation, test generation, operational insight, and productivity improvement.

  • Establish measurable adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices, ensuring AI use improves engineering flow, quality, automation, and delivery outcomes.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Integration Engineering, or related technical disciplines.

  • 4+ years of people leadership experience managing engineering teams.

  • Proven experience leading Platform Engineering, DevOps, Reliability Engineering, Integration Engineering, or Cloud Engineering teams.

  • Experience working with vendors, managed service providers, offshore development teams, and operational partners.

  • Experience working with SRE or managed operations partners to improve production health, reduce recurring incidents, strengthen observability, and manage reliability outcomes against agreed service levels.
