Your role as a System Test Engineer at Xsens
As a System Test Engineer, you play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products as we continue to expand our portfolio and development speed.
You are responsible for testing complete systems in integrated environments, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together across our hardware, embedded firmware, PC and Linux software, cloud platforms, and mobile applications.
You contribute to improving our testing approaches, with a strong focus on increasing test coverage, automation, and efficiency.
We actively leverage Generative AI tools to accelerate development and improve quality. You are expected to embrace these tools as part of your workflow and explore how they can enhance testing, automation, and analysis.
You will be based in Enschede, the Netherlands, and work closely with our multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key responsibilities:
Perform end-to-end system testing across our full product ecosystem (hardware, firmware, PC software, cloud, and mobile applications)
Validate system behavior and real-world user workflows in integrated environments
Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and release validation strategies
Develop and execute both manual and automated tests
Contribute to and improve test automation frameworks and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines
Analyze and debug issues across hardware and software boundaries, working closely with engineers to identify root causes
Collaborate with engineers to ensure requirements are clear, testable, and fully covered
Identify risks, edge cases, and integration issues across system boundaries
Drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies, tooling, and quality standards
Job requirements
We are looking for an independent and proactive System Test Engineer who thrives in an environment where initiative and a can-do attitude are highly valued. You have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Proven experience in system-level testing, preferably with integrated hardware/software products
Experience testing across multiple platforms (embedded systems, desktop applications, mobile apps, cloud services)
Programming experience in Python and/or C++ for test automation (preferred)
Experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing tools
Solid understanding of software design principles and system-level thinking
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including debugging complex system interactions
Excellent English communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership and work independently
