We are looking for a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to help shape and implement our company’s global privacy and compliance strategy.
As a Data Protection Officer at MyHeritage, you’ll ensure that our operations and products comply with applicable data protection laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), U.S. privacy acts such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and relevant local legislation. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to the business on privacy and compliance matters, working closely with cross-functional teams to design privacy-compatible solutions, build internal policies and procedures, and foster a culture of privacy awareness throughout the company. You will join the company’s Legal team and report to MyHeritage’s General Counsel.

What you’ll do

  • Act as point of contact with supervisory authorities and internal teams
  • Provide legal advisory services in connection with various compliance-related legislation and guidelines, both domestic and global
  • Identify and evaluate the company’s data processing activities
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company
  • Participate in meetings with managers
  • Advise on, negotiate and keep track of the company’s various Data Processing Agreements
  • Maintain records of processing operations
  • Ensure we address all queries from data subjects within legal timeframes
  • Maintain updated data protection policies
  • Arrange for training on privacy compliance for employees
  • Follow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with product teams to design new products and features in a privacy-compatible way
  • Develop and implement internal compliance programs and procedures to align with applicable legislation
  • Foster company-wide privacy awareness through training and guidance

What you bring

  • Proven experience as legal counsel on compliance, data protection and privacy
  • Solid knowledge of various compliance-related principles, such as GDPR, U.S. privacy acts, and national data protection laws
  • Familiarity with computer security systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ethical, with the ability to remain impartial
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail
