Who We Are

NewGlobe supports visionary governments to transform public education systems, the cornerstone of a prosperous, equitable, and peaceful society.

With a comprehensive system transformation platform and data-driven educational services, NewGlobe delivers rapid and dramatic improvements in learning outcomes at state and nationwide scale. Through building impactful partnerships and programmes, NewGlobe ensures that all children have access to an education that will develop their full potential and create a foundation for growth and prosperity.

NewGlobe leverages more than a decade of educational experience and proven impact in integrated school management, teacher professional development, instructional design innovation, technological system support, child-centered classroom practice, and parent engagement -- all grounded in learning science -- to ensure each teacher is empowered to engage children in transformational learning, and all children have the opportunity to develop to their full potential. Every day, NewGlobe supports governments to solve what were once seen as intractable problems, and by doing so, ensures this generation will be able to grow up to lead more fulfilled lives, while simultaneously building economic prosperity for themselves, their communities, and the globe.

NewGlobe’s high-touch, intensive professional development programs, along with integrated school management, teacher support, and assessment software, enable schools to succeed. NewGlobe works within state and national curriculum and syllabi, ensuring all children are empowered to learn their own history, and master local content, while being globally competitive in mathematics and languages. The science of behaviour change and the science of learning is at the foundation of all programming.

NewGlobe works with urgency because youth quickly becomes adulthood and relentlessly because improvement requires continuous problem-solving. NewGlobe is honoured to serve and to help rebuild trust in public systems.

NewGlobe’s work is all encompassing and will challenge you to use your full mind, and heart, each day. We need bright minds who want to be part of building a new globe -- a more equitable globe -- to join us.

Academics

The objective of the Academics group is to drive student achievement. To do so, we must know -- what is happening minute-by-minute for the typical child. The student’s daily experience, and thus the path to achievement, emerges from their relationship with the teachers and the content that is delivered in the classroom. Our team is collaboratively organised around these levers. We develop rigorous content pitched at the right level for students to be delivered by a teacher who is prepared to succeed in the classroom. Our Instructional Design department builds the content; our Leadership & Development department trains teachers and school leaders using scientifically-proven techniques; our Learning Innovation department looks at cutting-edge research to generate breakthrough learning gains. Underpinning all of this is the work of the independent Measurement and Evaluation group, which provides Academics with an empirical orientation toward improving that daily experience and, in turn, driving achievement.

Instructional Design

The Instructional Design department produces the learning materials that are used in our schools across our communities. This department has team members based in multiple Newglobe support offices, organised into teams that each work on a portfolio of projects. Driving student achievement through the development of rigorous content is the number one priority. One core tenet of the approach is less lecture (traditional among many schools in our markets) and more student practice. Consistent, rigorous opportunities to refine his or her skills are crucial to a child’s learning progression. The Instructional Design department structures all lessons, textbooks, and other instructional materials to ensure this.

About the Role

You will work closely with the Deputy Managing Editor to lead a team in the Lagos office. This team will produce instructional materials, with a major focus on new courses and assessments. As a leader of a team in Lagos, you will be focused on the details of executing our instructional design plan while eager to take on challenges. You are deeply organized and detail-oriented; a strong communicator; and a dedicated people manager who can build a positive and effective team.

You will use your instructional design expertise to design, write, and edit instructional materials that use Newglobe’s research-backed methods and correspond with government-provided syllabi and guidance. Under your leadership, your team will produce excellent materials under tight deadlines and rapidly changing conditions.

By joining the Instructional Design department, you join a group of people working to make a difference in the world. In the countries where we operate, the number of pupils attending school is soaring, but, according to international experts, the quality of most schools is low. Members of the Instructional Design department produce quality learning materials that improve thousands of children’s daily academic experience.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a high-performing Instructional Design team with a focus on new courses and assessments
  • Supervise a team of writers, providing them with detailed training, daily directions, and continual feedback.
  • Manage your team's work, translating evolving specifications into high-quality instructional products.
  • Create workflows, trackers, or other organizational tools to structure your team’s work.
  • Problem-solve to create solutions, occasionally with limited guidance, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Respond promptly to feedback from multiple stakeholders across and outside the organization.
  • Pitch in where needed on projects supporting other Academics’ departments or other Instructional Design teams

What You Should Have

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in education, educational publishing, or a related field
  • Experience or interest in managing a team
  • A strong orientation toward details, organization, and meeting deadlines
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Flexibility and a willingness to jump in and help wherever necessary, no matter how big or small the task
  • Good problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Self-motivation and comfort, creating solutions without a lot of support or structure
  • Comfort working in a demanding and sometimes high-stress environment
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Love of feedback — both giving and receiving it

Why Work Here

  • Opportunity for impact: The Instructional Design department as a whole directly impacts the experiences of approximately two million children. Any one lesson you write may be used to teach hundreds of thousands of them. There are not many opportunities in education with the potential to positively impact so many!
  • Global collaboration: Instructional Design has offices in Cambridge, Delhi, Hyderabad, Nairobi, Kigali, and Lagos. We collaborate on projects frequently across offices and learn from each other.
  • Like-minded team: We are all here for one reason: to help children get the quality education they deserve. Working with others who share this goal is a fulfilling part of our work.
  • Creative problem-solving: We often encounter novel problems and must act quickly to solve them in creative ways. You are not just applying a known template – you are actively involved in creating tools, products, and processes that have never existed before.
