Job Title: Sr. Electrical Engineer (PC Cases & Components)

JOB SUMMARY

This position will be initially be responsible for working with our current vendors to review circuit schematics and board designs, follow up with each phase of the fabrication process, and perform schematic capture, board design, and bring-up wherever required. Additionally, this role will set the best practices for hardware design and manufacturing and will help grow and lead a hardware design team as we transition work into the organization.
NZXT is looking for an EE/hardware engineering who will work with the product and engineering teams through all aspects of the development life cycle for our hardware products. You will help design the electronics hardware for our products and manage the development and manufacturing process to ensure defect-free and on-time product launches. This position will initially be responsible for working with our current vendors to review circuit schematics and board designs, follow up with each phase of the fabrication process, and perform schematic capture, board design, and bring-up wherever required. Additionally, this role will set the best practices for hardware design and manufacturing and will help grow and lead a hardware design team as we transition work into the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Study product requirements and help develop electrical designs and specifications
  • Use and review electronic design automation (EDA) tools to perform schematic capture and PCB layout and routing
  • Perform component selection, manage bills of material, and find alternate components for sourcing when needed
  • Perform testing and debugging for initial board bring up.
  • Assure product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities
  • Overseeing Circuit design, modeling, prototyping, verification, and validation
  • Schematic capture, PCB layout, and board bring-up
  • Manage fabrication vendors and electronic development partners
  • Provide hands-on support to solve complex technical problems
  • Help grow and manage a hardware design team
  • Design and layout using schematic capture, PCB layout, and board bring-up
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+years of PC development experience or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of related experience.
  • 8+ years in schematic and PCB design experience.
  • Experience with ORCAD, Allegro, and PADS software tools
  • Previous experience with consumer electronics products a plus
  • Knowledgeable of hardware design best practices and how to implement them
  • Electrical stress and derating, such as voltage, current, power, inrush current, duty cycles, timing analysis, power supply efficiency, connector pin currents/derating, EMC considerations
  • Demonstrate ability to perform circuit modeling and simulation
  • Experience with EMI/EMC requirement for PCB design
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience, with an eye towards minimizing hand-off time to fabrication and assembly shops
  • Management of fabrication vendors and electronic development partners


SKILLS

  • Not afraid to handle a soldering iron (0402, 0201, IC, and other SMD components) to do board rework
  • Knowledge with USB, I2C, SPI, and other standard electrical interfaces and protocols
  • Knowledge with microcontroller (MCU) architectures
  • Knowledge with product design flow and factory process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good English proficiency
