Quality Engineer
Clinisys' AI Philosophy: Building an AI-first organisation is central to Clinisys’ purpose and the impact we deliver. As a global provider of intelligent diagnostic informatics solutions, we build AI-enabled, cloud-based platforms to enhance diagnostic workflows across healthcare, life sciences, and public health. By applying intelligent technology thoughtfully and responsibly, we help laboratories and testing environments operate more effectively, generate meaningful insights at scale, and ultimately support healthier and safer communities. Operating across more than 30 countries, Clinisys expects all colleagues—regardless of role or function—to work confidently with AI-enabled tools, apply digital and analytical thinking, and continuously adapt as technologies evolve, must drive an AI first sense of purpose and urgency. GLIMS Application Context GLIMS (General Laboratory Information Management System) is a healthcare laboratory information system used to support and manage end-to-end laboratory workflows. The application covers a broad functional scope including patient identity and encounter management, order and result management, laboratory analytical workflows, result validation, reporting, and integration with external healthcare systems and instruments. GLIMS is a highly configurable system used across different customers, countries, and laboratory environments, meaning functional behavior varies by configuration, workflows, integrations, and regulations. Operating within a complex healthcare ecosystem, GLIMS quality depends on strong functional understanding, correct handling of healthcare data, robustness across configurations, and ensuring changes do not disrupt critical laboratory processes. Job Summary The Quality Engineer (QE) for the GLIMS application is responsible for ensuring the functional quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability of the GLIMS healthcare application. The QE works closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to deeply understand application behavior, business workflows, and healthcare-specific requirements, with a strong AI-first mindset to accelerate analysis, acceptance criteria, and test design. While the initial focus of the role is on strong functional testing and investigation, the QE is expected to gradually contribute to test automation initiatives. Tasks & Responsibilities Write and maintain detailed test cases, test suites, and test plans in Azure DevOps, based on laboratory workflows, configurations, and scenarios, including exploratory and configuration-driven scenarios used to reproduce defects. Perform functional testing of corrective fixes and functional enhancements across GLIMS versions. Investigate defects and unexpected behavior by exploring edge cases, alternative scenarios, and boundary conditions. Contribute to test reporting and quality status communication, ensuring test coverage, findings, risks, and quality insights are clearly captured and shared. Actively look beyond implemented requirements to identify scenarios or boundaries that may have been overlooked during development. Develop a deep functional understanding of the GLIMS application, including end-to end healthcare workflows, configurations, data flows, and integrations. Execute functional, exploratory, and regression testing to validate new features, changes, and bug fixes. Collaborate closely with developers during refinement, implementation, and defect resolution to ensure quality is built in from the start. Contribute to and support test automation initiatives, ensuring that automated tests complement and strengthen functional test coverage. Assist in the preparation and review of functional requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria, leveraging AI tools where appropriate to propose, refine, and validate clear, testable acceptance criteria. Continuously improve testing approaches, quality practices, and documentation for the GLIMS application. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Clear communication, an open mindset, and the confidence to challenge assumptions are essential. Actively questioning implementations and proactively raising potential risks or missing scenarios is considered a key strength in this role. Proven experience writing and maintaining test cases, test suites, and test plans in Azure DevOps; experience with Azure DevOps Test Plans/Test Suites is a plus. Strong AI-first mindset. When starting a task, think AI first: proactively use AI tools to accelerate quality activities (e.g., drafting acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and edge-case exploration). Hands-on experience with AI tools is a very important asset, while applying critical thinking to validate correctness, completeness, traceability, and compliance in a healthcare context. The primary and continuous focus of this role is on functional testing, test design, and functional investigation of the GLIMS application. Over time, the automation of functional test coverage will become increasingly important, with the goal of strengthening regression coverage and long-term product quality. Test automation is a must. Hands-on experience in test automation is a very important asset. Experience building and maintaining automated functional tests (preferably with UiPath), and/or strong scripting experience (JRuby RSpec) or affinity (e.g., to create test utilities, data setup, and repeatable checks) is required. Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to understand complex functional and domain-specific issues. Experience with healthcare applications is strongly preferred (e.g. LIS, LIMS, laboratory, clinical, or other regulated systems). Ability to understand complex business and healthcare workflows and translate them into effective test scenarios. This with a quality-driven, detail-oriented, and solution-focused mindset. Experience working closely with development teams across the SDLC (from requirements and refinement to testing, release, and production support). Able to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a cross functional team. Strong English communication skills (written and spoken) with strong documentation and reporting discipline (e.g., test evidence, defect descriptions, risk/impact, and status updates), able to communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Education and Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, or equivalent through experience. Experience in a software product environment Experience with test automation and AI tools is a very important asset. Experience with healthcare, laboratory, LIS, LIMS, or similar regulated domains is a strong advantage.
