We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead teams of highly skilled engineers in a technology-intensive environment. As an Engineering Manager, you will be pivotal in managing and advancing their technical expertise. This role offers the opportunity to architect and deliver sophisticated applications with a substantial user base, significantly impacting the company’s success. You will lead by example, inspire innovation, and cultivate a culture of technical excellence and creativity within the engineering department.

What to expect:

  • Leadership & Development: Lead multiple teams of engineers (8-12 people) through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development.
  • Culture Building: Provide strong leadership to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Solutions: Lead and own the delivery of modern technical solutions that address business needs, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality, and product requirements.
  • Design & Implementation: Oversee the technical design and implementation of features, following industry best practices and scalability requirements. Ensure that the design and code quality meet the highest standards. Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain technical excellence.
  • Architectural Guidance: Assist with the architectural design and evolution of the system. Provide strategic guidance on technology choices, architectural patterns, and best practices to ensure the system's scalability, performance, and maintainability. Work closely with senior engineers to establish and uphold architectural standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate updates, progress, and challenges to key stakeholders, including executive leadership and product managers.
  • Vision Crafting: Develop a meaningful vision for the team, working closely with product managers, stakeholders, fellow engineering managers, and other development teams.
  • Agile Practices: Promote agile software development and advocate for excellent engineering and organizational practices to enhance team efficiency and facilitate rapid iterations.
  • Professional Standards: Promote tools and processes that support highly professional software standards.
  • Challenging the Status Quo: Be open to new ideas and approaches, and actively challenge the status quo. Encourage the team to question existing processes and suggest improvements, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous enhancement.
  • Collaboration: Actively collaborate with colleagues and other leaders within the organization.

To be successful you need to:

  • Code & Architecture Passion: You love well-written code and have a passion for architecting software.
  • People Development: You love developing and growing people and have a proven track record of doing so.
  • Empowerment & Leadership: You care about empowering people and have demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate, and inspire your team.
  • Product Delivery: You have proven experience in managing software developers and delivering successful products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stakeholder Management: You are skilled in stakeholder management, effectively fostering seamless collaboration with product managers and designers.
  • Communication Skills: You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Technical Passion & Knowledge: You are knowledgeable and passionate about technology, optimization, scalability, and security.
  • High-Scale Systems Experience: You have experience in building and supporting high-scale, high-availability systems.
  • Technical Expertise: You have deep technical expertise and a thorough understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
  • Language Proficiency: You have a very good command of English.

Any of the following is considered a plus:

  • Previous Software Development Experience: You have previous software development experience as a senior engineer or architect.
  • Scalable Software Development: You have experience in developing software at scale with minimum response times.
  • JAVA Technology Stack: You have an understanding of the modern JAVA technology stack.
