What to Expect:

  • Provide general, commercial legal and regulatory advice to FCA and CBI regulated electronic money businesses globally (except LATAM and North America).
  • Providing legal advice with a focus on contract, commercial, corporate & payment services law

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements (including procurement ones) and non-disclosure agreements with existing and potential customers and suppliers, ensuring that all agreements reflect the approved business case and the standard policies and procedures of the organisation.
  • Provide advice to the business teams on the applicable legal and regulatory framework in the relevant territories (with focus on e-money services, payment network and payment processing deals).
  • Advise the business on the legal aspects of new product development and new product delivery channels.
  • Instruct and manage external legal counsel globally.
  • Address any other general or ad-hoc commercial legal queries from internal business stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the know-how, professional development and knowledge management needs of the Legal Department.

To be successful you need to have:

  • Legal qualification/Academic degree in law in a EU Member State; bar exam not required.
  • A minimim of 3+ years post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; command of another language (especially German) may also be an advantage.
  • Direct experience in the following areas is required: financial services (preferably fintech or payment processing), drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements of varying complexity, legal research in new areas of law, commercial and corporate law.
  • Prior knowledge in the following areas is desirable: financial services regulations, gambling regulations, as well as expertise in the fields of commercial law / contractual law & e-commerce; strong preference for payment services experience.
  • Experience of cross-border & multi-jurisdictional contracts advantageous

  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills – able to influence and persuade in decision making processes both internally and externally.
  • Commercial awareness and strong business acumen – must be able to work with key business partners to achieve the commercial objectives of the business and to deliver legal advice in the appropriate commercial context.
  • Ability to work independently as part of a collegiate team, within company guidelines and department policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft clear, professional and legally robust correspondence, contractual documentation, policies and other documentation as required, with appropriate form and style.
  • Personal interest in Gaming / Gambling / Online Entertainment is appreciated

  • First class interpersonal skills – able to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills – able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literate – able to use Microsoft suite of packages - Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
