The office is located in the Bikini Berlin building near Kurfürstendamm with easy access via public transport links. To foster team culture, we try as often as possible to meet in person in Berlin

The Principal Engineer is a strategic and highly influential technical leader responsible for shaping and guiding the company’s engineering vision, driving innovation, and solving complex business and technical challenges. This individual contributes significantly to a specialized technical domain, providing expertise and direction across multiple teams and projects. As a recognized expert, the Principal Engineer acts as a technical advisor to senior leadership, influencing decisions that directly affect the business's direction and success.

The impact you will have:

• Strategic Leadership:
  • Develops and drives broad company strategies, translating them into multi-functional objectives.
  • Influences senior management to adopt new viewpoints and make critical decisions that align with long-term business goals.
  • Advises top management on strategic objectives with significant technical input and insights.
• Technical Expertise and Innovation:
  • Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art engineering and scientific principles, with a strong emphasis on security and technological trends.
  • Leads the application of engineering principles to solve complex product and organizational problems.
• Project and Product Leadership:
  • Participates in the design, development, and oversight of critical applications and major projects.
  • Serves as a technical expert across various product lines, overseeing and influencing the direction of key product developments.
  • Assesses and approves technical tools and approaches for new initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Influence:
  • Liaison between engineering teams and architectural leadership.
  • Leads high-level design sessions and kick-offs for major initiatives, setting the technical tone and direction.
  • Envisions and plans strategic projects involving multiple functional areas to drive business impact and cost optimization.
• Mentorship and Culture Building:
  • Mentors engineers across departments, cultivating a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Fosters an environment where alternative methods, innovative ideas, and new technologies are explored and embraced.

What we're looking for:

• • Relevant experience in software engineering, including at least 5 years with Go in large-scale systems.
  • Experience with generative AI tools and practices (e.g., GitHub Copilot, OpenAI APIs, custom LLMs) and how to effectively integrate them into software development lifecycles.
  • Strong software architecture and design background.
  • Experience with Ruby is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex, high-stakes engineering projects with multi-functional impact.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities across business domains.
  • Experience mentoring technical staff and guiding organizational growth.
