The Senior Project Manager – Information Security leads the planning, execution, and delivery of complex information security and cybersecurity initiatives. This role is responsible for orchestrating cross-functional teams and third parties to deliver projects that strengthen the organization’s security posture, ensure regulatory compliance, and reduce risk. The Senior Project Manager ensures alignment with business objectives, manages security-specific risks, and delivers measurable outcomes in threat mitigation, resilience, and user awareness.
What you will do:
- Lead multiple, concurrent information security and cybersecurity projects (e.g., security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, security tool implementation, regulatory compliance).
- Plan, implement, and deploy global security solutions in a geographically distributed environment
- Establish and oversee robust governance structures, steering committees, and cross-functional working groups focused on security.
- Manage complex interdependencies, risks, and issues across security projects, ensuring alignment with business priorities and regulatory requirements (GDPR, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, NIST, etc.).
- Prepare and present clear status reporting, financials, and delivery KPIs to Infosec and senior leadership.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
- Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Ensure projects adhere to relevant security, compliance, and governance standards.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies across multiple security domains.
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
To be successful you need to have:
- 7+ years’ experience delivering complex, multi-workstream information security or cybersecurity projects in matrixed, enterprise environments (e.g., financial services, regulated sectors).
- Proven track record of managing large-scale security initiatives (e.g., security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, security tool implementation, regulatory compliance).
- Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in security project/program governance, risk management, and benefits realization.
- Advanced budget management and vendor management experience.
- In-depth knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS), regulatory requirements (GDPR, PCI DSS), and security best practices.
Desirable Requirements:
- Relevant security and project management certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CRISC, PRINCE2, PMP, Agile/Scrum, ITIL).
- Experience with security operations and delivery platforms (SIEM/SOAR, ServiceNow, Jira/Confluence, MS Project), including building business cases for security initiatives.
- Background in regulatory/compliance environments, corporate integrations, and mentoring project management talent within security teams.
