Dogs, cats, budgies and everything in between - pets deserve the world. They make us want to be better humans. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to build the most engaged and passionate community of pets and pet parents across the world. And we’re looking for talented team mates who can help us do it.
Founded in Sydney, our team of 500+ pet obsessives span Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines. We’ve scaled to become one of Australia's top five eComm companies and the no.1 online pet store. But we’re just getting started. Like a whippet who’s spotted their mate across the dog park, our growth is only going to accelerate, as we continue to disrupt the way that pet parents shop.
Excitingly, the pet industry is booming (as in $15 billion kind of booming) and online pet retail is set to grow exponentially in the next five years. So this is a unique career opportunity to be part of our epic growth story.
The Opportunity
Since its founding in 2011, Pet Circle has captured 50% of Australia's online pet market. We see an opportunity to build a unique specialty retail business by offering tailored products, advice, and services that consider both pets and their owners' needs. In this National Role you will play an integral role in ensuring our systems are interconnected, workflows are scalable and state of the art and we’re constantly improving on the way we do things!

What You'll Be Doing

  • Daily Operations & Escalations: Oversee daily operations of our WMS Scale, ensuring it functions according to design specifications. Serve as the escalation point for system breakdowns, coordinating with Manhattan technical support as needed. Drive us forward to minimise downtime and enhance our operational performance to ensure our customers have an exceptional experience.
  • Reporting & Consultation: Develop operational reports to meet business needs. Act as a key resource for ongoing training and refresher courses on WMS functionalities, supporting new and existing employees.
  • Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Continuously monitor the performance of both software and mechanised systems, identifying potential bottlenecks and swiftly troubleshooting issues to minimise downtime and disruptions.
  • Systems Optimisation Across Multiple Sites: Oversee the optimisation and integration of all supply chain systems (including WMS, automated machinery, and robotic processes) across multiple distribution centres nationwide. Ensure seamless alignment between software and physical systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • System Maintenance & Updates: Coordinate scheduled maintenance and system updates with both internal operations teams and Scale, ensuring minimal disruption to daily workflows.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives by understanding warehouse workflows and configuring Manhattan WMS to align with new process designs. Actively contribute to our ongoing Distribution Centre (DC) Excellence Reviews and process design improvements.
  • Coaching & Leadership: Coach supply chain team members on the functional capabilities of automated WMS and lead technical configurations. Enhance the capacity of team members and ensure alignment with best practices.

The ideal toolkit

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science or another STEM discipline showing the ability to deeply understand complex technical concepts.
  • Proven people and team leadership experience, recognised as an attractor and developer of world-class talent. You’re also adept at driving outcomes with lean teams and are resourceful in the way you approach business challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.
  • Experience considering both customer needs and commercial realities in order to drive meaningful outcomes and enhance operational performance. Strong analytical skills and capacity to thrive in data driven environments, moving from ideas to reality in very short periods of time.
