The opportunity

This Data Analytics Lead will play a key role in building and analysing models that help inform customer and operational decisions, and uncover insights that shape customer behaviour and loyalty. In this role, you will partner closely with leaders across our business to identify and prioritise the best opportunities to leverage our data and enable us to deliver various business strategies. You will work directly with the VP of Commercial Finance & FP&A to align data strategy with the company's financial goals and coordinate these with the data platform team, ensuring that every insight translates into a measurable impact on the bottom line. You will think critically about complex challenges in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a blend of analytical experience, business acumen, strong communication and strategic thinking.

What you’ll be doing

• You will move beyond static dashboards to lead narrative driven insights through building dashboards and visualisations that support our Performance storytelling, ensuring data is presented with a clear commercial narrative to the business stakeholders and the Board.

• Acting as the primary interface between the Commercial team and our data platform, you will translate business problems into more specific questions or hypotheses, and provide/present insights or findings in a subjective manner to relevant stakeholders.

• Identify gaps in the dataset and feed high quality requirements through to data engineering. Triage all business requests as the first port of call.

• Build and manage a team of analysts, mentor and work closely with the team to remove data-related and technical roadblocks.

• Manage analysis work pipeline and prioritisation through collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and cross functional teams.

• Work with Commercial leadership in building quarterly and yearly analytics roadmap.

• Oversee the intake and prioritisation of data requests, ensuring the team focuses on high-value commercial impact rather than just data extraction.

• Lead training and provide support for technical and non-technical users on developing charts

• Drive a positive team culture, focused on customer outcomes, whilst coaching and developing the technical capabilities of the team

The ideal toolbox

• Bachelor or Master degree in Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Engineering, or other quantitative discipline field with strong academic record.

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience in analytics or business intelligence roles, with some experience in people management, people leadership or mentoring

• Excellent SQL, proficient knowledge in using SQL, GCP, Excel. Experience in BI tools, like Looker would be an advantage. Experience in Python is advantageous but not required.

• Deep commercial acumen with specific experience in e-commerce metrics (CAC, LTV, Contribution Margin, and Inventory Turnover)

• Familiarity with financial reporting frameworks and an understanding of how data structures impact financial storytelling.

• Expertise in Data Visualization and data storytelling

• Experience in team management and/or mentorship

• Proven ability to leverage a large dataset, perform in-depth analysis, and present the data and findings that are easily understood by technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to work to deadlines with good prioritisation, planning and organisational skills.

• Autonomous, reliable, with excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Experience working and communicating with distributed and asynchronous teams

• Strong ability to think strategically; You don’t just find bugs, you find opportunities. You are instinctively curious about how data can improve our customer experience and our profitability.

Role location

We believe that building connections and collaborating as Pet Circlers is super important. So this role is based in Sydney with a hybrid arrangement of 3 days per week in our pet friendly offices (your pet might love coming to the office even more than you). This is subject to change in line with business requirements.
