Group Reporting Manager

Dogs, cats, budgies and everything in between - pets deserve the world. They make us want to be better humans. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to build the most engaged and passionate community of pets and pet parents across the world. And we’re looking for talented team mates who can help us do it.

Founded in Sydney, our team of 500+ pet obsessives span Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines. We’ve scaled to become one of Australia's top five eComm companies and the no.1 online pet store. But we’re just getting started. Like a whippet who’s spotted their mate across the dog park, our growth is only going to accelerate, as we continue to disrupt the way that pet parents shop.

Excitingly, the pet industry is booming (as in $15 billion kind of booming) and online pet retail is set to grow exponentially in the next five years. So this is a unique career opportunity to be part of our epic growth story.

The opportunity

The Group Reporting Manager will lead and own Pet Circle's financial operations function - making sure the business has accurate, timely and commercially relevant financial information to support decision-making at scale. You'll bring together rigorous financial control and a growth-oriented mindset, balancing risk mitigation, compliance and reporting excellence with the speed and agility a fast-moving business needs. The goal? A high-performing, efficient finance function that produces trusted reporting, maintains strong governance, and gives the broader business the confidence to operate at its best.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead Pet Circle's annual external audit program and financial statement preparation

  • Own key compliance and governance activities - taxation, insurance, internal audit reviews - making sure everything's buttoned up and on time

  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures that scale with the business

  • Manage cash, working capital and foreign exchange to maximise returns, including weekly cash flow forecasting

  • Own month-end accounting processes, balance sheet reconciliation reviews, and the preparation of insightful financial reporting across the business

  • Lead, mentor and develop our Financial Operations team across Australia and the Philippines

  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes as required

  • Initiate and lead cross-functional projects, analysis and reporting that drive real business impact

  • Design scalable, commercially viable systems and processes that supercharge the FinOps team's impact

The ideal toolbox

  • 5+ years' experience in a senior finance role

  • Commercial mindset with a genuine desire to add value across the whole organisation, not just within Finance

  • Proven experience managing a remote team, including assessing productivity, impact and engagement

  • Experience leveraging AI and automation across team workflows to drive efficiency and continuous improvement

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • A track record of proactively driving positive change at both the finance and organisational level

  • Advanced system skills including hands-on Accounting/ERP experience, Google Suite and Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - you can translate numbers into narratives

  • Experience in a retail environment accounting for inventory (also a big plus!)

  • Previous success streamlining accounting systems and processes

We believe that building connections and collaborating as Pet Circlers is super important. So this role is based in Sydney with a hybrid arrangement of 3 days per week in our pet friendly offices (your pet might love coming to the office even more than you). About Pet Circle

Our story, like many good ones, starts with a human and their dog. Our founder, Mike noticed his Dad struggling to lug heavy bags of dog food home from the pet store. And so, in 2011, Pet Circle was born in Sydney with a simple mission: to make caring for pets as easy as possible.

And we've come a long way. Today, we're the #1 player in the Aussie online pet industry and one of Australia's top 5 eCommerce businesses.
