About the team (Business Platform Experience)

The Business Platform Experience (BPX) organization builds and operates the B2B ecosystem that powers our partners’ success:

  • B2B marketplace for real estate agencies, brokers, and agents

  • Tools to create, manage, and promote listings on our consumer-facing products

  • Deep integrations with external systems (CRMs, ERPs, partner platforms) via our Enterprise APIs

  • Agent and brokerage productivity experiences, performance insights, and monetization flows

Role Overview

As a Principal Engineer in BPX, you are the technical authority for our B2B platform: the systems, APIs, and experiences that real estate agencies and agents rely on every day to run their business.

You will:

  • Set the technical direction for core B2B domains (listings lifecycle, integrations, onboarding, billing, lead & performance tools, etc.).

  • Own the architecture of mission-critical, high-scale systems serving thousands of real estate professionals and powering millions of listings and consumer experiences.

  • Drive the evolution of our Enterprise APIs and integrations that connect Property Finder with agency CRMs and the wider real estate ecosystem.

  • Influence and align multiple teams and leaders across Engineering, Product, and Commercial to deliver durable, scalable solutions.

You are an individual contributor, but your impact is org-level: you lead through influence, clarity of thinking, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Strategy & Architecture for BPX

  • Define and own the long-term technical vision for BPX’s core domains:

    • B2B listing management & quality

    • Agency & agent account lifecycle

    • Enterprise APIs for CRM and system integrations

    • Partner onboarding, contracts, and monetization flows

    • Agent productivity and performance tooling

  • Design and evolve scalable, resilient, multi-tenant systems that support multiple markets, products, and business models across MENA.

  • Ensure our Enterprise APIs are robust, well-designed, and a pleasure to integrate with: versioning strategy, backward compatibility, documentation standards, and observability.

  • Proactively identify architectural risks (scalability limits, data model complexity, tight coupling between B2B and B2C systems, etc.) and define strategies to address them before they become constraints.

2. Engineering Excellence & Operational Health

  • Champion engineering standards for BPX: code quality, testing, observability, security, and performance across multiple teams.

  • Act as the escalation point for complex production issues in mission-critical flows (listings ingestion, CRM syncs, lead delivery, agency billing, etc.).

  • Drive improvements in SLOs/SLAs, reliability, and incident response for B2B systems—ensuring that our partners can trust Property Finder for their daily operations.

  • Introduce and scale platform capabilities (shared libraries, services, patterns) that make it easier and faster for teams to build consistent, reliable features.

3. Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor Senior, Staff, and upcoming Principal-level Engineers, helping them grow in system design, architectural thinking, and strategic impact.

  • Coach Engineering Managers on technical decision-making, trade-offs, and long-term platform thinking.

  • Raise the bar in hiring by participating in interviews, bar-raising panels, and leveling discussions and by contributing to the evolution of our engineering career framework.

4. Cross-Functional & Cross-Org Impact

  • Partner with Product, Commercial, and Operations leaders to shape roadmaps that balance innovation, partner needs, and technical sustainability.

  • Translate ambiguous business and ecosystem problems into clear technical strategies and executable plans.

  • Align multiple squads and workstreams across BPX (and beyond) on shared patterns for:

    • Data models (agencies, agents, listings, contracts, packages)

    • Integrations (Enterprise API, data sync, webhooks, event-driven flows)

    • Cross-cutting concerns (auth, permissions, rate-limiting, auditability)

  • Represent BPX in company-wide architectural forums, ensuring our B2B platform integrates cleanly with consumer experiences, data platforms, and AI/ML initiatives.

5. Ecosystem & Innovation

  • Keep a sharp eye on the real estate and proptech ecosystem—CRMs, portals, aggregators, and tools—and identify opportunities to deepen our platform role.

  • Partner with Data & AI teams to embed intelligence into the BPX stack: smarter pricing, lead scoring, performance insights, agent coaching signals, etc.

  • Contribute to the external engineering brand of Property Finder (e.g., talks, blogs, OSS contributions) where appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

    • Substantial experience in software engineering, with a strong track record in large-scale platforms.

  • Demonstrated leadership as a senior/principal IC driving architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams.

  • Deep expertise in:

    • Distributed systems and service-oriented architecture

    • API design (REST/GraphQL), data modeling, and integration patterns

    • Observability, reliability, and operational excellence for production systems

  • Experience with integrations and partner ecosystems (e.g., CRMs, third-party APIs, event-driven systems, webhooks).

  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, balance short-term delivery with long-term architecture, and align diverse stakeholders around sound technical decisions.

  • Excellent communication skills—able to dive deep with engineers while also explaining complex trade-offs to business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in marketplaces, proptech, fintech, or similar B2B/B2C hybrid environments.

  • Prior work on multi-market, multi-tenant platforms with configurable business rules, pricing, and workflows.

  • Exposure to data platforms and ML-driven products, especially where insights are fed back into operational systems.

  • Public speaking, open-source contributions, or thought leadership within the engineering community.
