The Role
We are seeking a passionate and driven Director, Total Rewards & HR Operations to drive our competitive total rewards strategy and optimize HR operational efficiency. Reporting to the VP of People & Places, this role ensures our compensation and benefits attract and retain top talent, while also overseeing seamless HR processes, systems, and data integrity. This hands-on leader will manage the Benefits Manager and partner closely with the People & Places Leadership Team to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies and practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong compensation expertise, benefits experience, and a proven track record in HR operations management and process improvement.

Problems You Will Solve / Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a compelling Total Rewards strategy (compensation, benefits, equity) aligned with business goals and market competitiveness.
  • Conduct market pricing, job analysis, and compensation program design (base, bonus, stock options), ensuring equity and compliance.
  • Oversee comprehensive benefits programs (health, wellness, retirement, leave policies), negotiating with carriers and ensuring ACA compliance.
  • Manage and optimize HR operational processes, including HRIS administration, employee data management, onboarding/offboarding, and HR policy implementation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation within HR operations to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Ensure data integrity and security across HR systems, collaborating with IT for seamless functionality.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws (ERISA, FLMA, FLSA, EEO, etc.) across total rewards and HR operations.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and Payroll for accurate reporting, compliance, and budget management.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field; CCP preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive compensation experience.
  • 5+ years of benefits experience with total rewards strategy involvement.
  • Proven experience managing HR operations, HRIS administration, and process improvement.
  • Expertise in designing and administering all types of compensation and benefits programs.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and project management skills.
  • A results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and strong customer experience.
