The Role
The successful candidate will join Prosper’s Credit Risk Management Department, a team that leverages advanced analytics, cutting-edge data, and innovative techniques to shape fraud risk strategies. These strategies form the foundation of Prosper’s fraud mitigation framework, covering both first- and third-party fraud risks.
As a Fraud Risk Senior Manager, you’ll apply advanced statistical methods, algorithms, and industry-leading tools to design solutions that predict and prevent risks tied to Prosper’s Personal Loan and Credit Card products. We’re looking for someone with strong, hands-on analytical skills and a passion for solving problems in creative, effective ways.
By developing faster, more agile fraud strategies, you’ll help keep our marketplace competitive and ensure we continue delivering on our mission: advancing financial well-being.
Problems You Will Solve
- Develop and implement fraud strategies using data, machine learning, and advanced analytics to reduce losses while maintaining an excellent customer experience
- Manage and enhance existing strategies to control first- and third-party fraud risks
- Design A/B tests to assess risk versus customer experience trade-offs
- Continuously refine strategies, incorporating automation and innovative approaches
- Explore and test new data sources, analytics methods, and models
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and perform root-cause analysis
- Communicate insights and recommendations to Risk Management and broader teams
- Evaluate and present business cases for new vendors or data sources to senior leadership
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and external partners to implement and monitor strategies
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support risk management, product, and operations initiatives
About You
- Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics and 8+ years of credit/fraud risk management experience
- 4+ years of people leadership experience
- Background in managing fraud within consumer lending or consumer credit card products
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and statistical skills
- Proficient in SQL; familiarity with R, Python, Tableau, and Knowledge Seeker is a plus
- Experience using models and decision trees to develop fraud strategies
- Fiserv and/or FICO fraud tool experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to diverse audiences, including senior leadership
- Skilled in segmentation, statistical procedures, and financial analytics tools
- Self-motivated, curious, and adaptable, with a track record of driving results in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
