Position: Casting Assistant Type: Full Time, Location: Old Saybrook,CT

Overview

Tantor Media, a division of RBmedia, is one of the largest audio book publishers in the World. Tantor Media has over 20 years of experience in the audio market. Tantor Media currently has an opening for a Casting Assistant. The Casting Assistant must be able to conduct work in the state of CT including out of the Tantor Media headquarters in Old Saybrook, CT. This is a hybrid position based in the state of Connecticut. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business.

This is a full-time non-exempt position (40 hours weekly) and will report directly to the Director of Production.

Position Responsibilities including but not limited to:

The primary responsibility for this role is to support the Director of Production, Casting Director, Production Manager, and Pre-Production Manager with the objective of administrative support and casting.

  • 50% of time: Assist casting and schedule narrators (independent contractors) utilizing manuscripts, internal support systems, narrator skills, internal feedback, and consumer reviews.
    1. Cast to determined budgetary objectives per Casting Director’s approval and guidance.
    2. Coordinate casting approvals with publisher network and acquisitions team.
    3. Utilize creative and diplomatic solutions to difficult projects, escalating to Casting Director when necessary
  • 50% of time: Assist Director of Production with administrative duties, including but not limited to database entry and supporting the narration invoice process.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in English, Communications, Journalism or other related fields or experience in audiobook/publishing field.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in the areas of project support, production coordination, or related administrative fields
  • Motivated self-starter with a constant desire to meet and exceed goals
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with internal departments and external contacts (narrators, publishers, industry professionals), using diplomacy and creative solutions when problem-solving
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment and to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong focus and multitasking ability, including ability to sit and read from a computer screen for 8 consecutive hours per day
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
