As a Software Engineering Team Lead on Redis AI and Search, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role in shaping the future of Search and AI at Redis.
You’ll build and lead a talented team responsible for Redis’ Search and Redis’ vector and AI capabilities - the foundation for real-time full-text search, vector similarity, and retrieval layers for modern AI systems, including RAG.
This team sits at the core of Redis’ next-generation data platform, where performance, scale, and innovation meet.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team while remaining hands-on in design and implementation
- Provide technical leadership in systems-level development using C, C++, and Rust
- Drive enhancements to Redis’ AI and Search capabilities, including vector search, hybrid retrieval, and semantic caching
- Design, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD workflows to support high-velocity, high-quality releases
- Lead incident response and customer engagement for production issues, ensuring timely resolution, postmortems, and process improvements
- Collaborate closely with Core, Cloud, Product, and Support teams
- Set strong engineering standards around performance, reliability, testing, and operational excellence
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
What You’ll Need to Have
- 8+ years of experience in systems-level or database software development, including people leadership.
- At least 3+ years managing teams building software in C, C++, or Rust
- Proven background working at a database company or on distributed data systems (e.g., storage engines, caching systems, streaming systems, or similar)
- Deep understanding of systems design topics such as memory management, concurrency, performance optimization, and distributed consistency
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, especially in distributed and global teams
- Strong track record of building and growing healthy, high-performing teams and mentoring engineers
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Extra Great If You Have
- Experience supporting AI infrastructure or platforms (search, retrieval, caching, or data layers)
- Experience improving developer productivity using AI-assisted tooling or workflows
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases, especially Redis, and their practical applications
- Experience leading or maintaining open-source projects, or driving OSS contributions
