Position Details:

MDA Space is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer at the Intermediate MTS/Engineer level in the field of FPGA Design and Verification to join our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Electrical Engineering Department in a variety of tasks. As a member of the Electrical Engineering Team in FPGA Design and Verification, you will work in the Logistics & Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program (to support On-Orbit Space Station activities), and/or the Gateway External Robotics System (GERS) program, and/or the planetary/lunar rovers’ programs, and/or R&D activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The interested candidates do not need to be experienced in all areas below but should demonstrate knowledge of at least FPGA design and/or verification.

  • Develop VHDL/SystemVerilog test benches for the verification of FPGA designs
  • Apply the various techniques and approaches of the Universal Verification Methodology (UVM)
  • Contribute to the development of the test infrastructure
  • Document and report problems found to designers and assist them in identifying the source of the problems
  • Write detailed documentation and test reports
  • Hands on hardware testing and debug on custom designed hardware
  • Strives to provide customers/clients with personalized and efficient service.
  • Experience with a rigorous development process flow (i.e. understanding requirements definition, architecture & modularization, traceability of requirements down to test cases etc.)

Assets:

  • Experience in writing test benches in VHDL/SystemVerilog
  • Experience with FPGA development tools (E.g. Xilinx Vivado, Microchip Libero) and simulators (E.g. ModelSim)
  • Knowledge of UVM validation environments
  • Knowledge of VHDL sufficient to navigate through an existing design.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Tcl, Python, etc).
  • Familiarity with testbed automation techniques (Jenkins)
  • Knowledge of source code management techniques (Git).
  • Knowledge of NI Labview
  • Organized, self-starter, attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Excel, MS Visio, VBA

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical or Systems Engineering
  • 2 + years of experience in a Electrical field, FPGA Design and Verification
  • Strong oral, written and verbal communication skills
  • Result orientated and exhibits excellent critical thinking
  • Works well in a dynamic environment and to a specific set of requirements
  • Team player that demonstrated high level of integrity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $78K - $105K annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
