Role:

The Senior Configuration Management Coordinator (CMC) reports to the Manager, Quality Assurance and resides within the Configuration and Data Management (CADM) team within the Quality organization of Geointelligence, a Business Area of MDA Space. The CMC is responsible for defining and implementing configuration management principles to products and systems and supporting the provision of customer products and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Engineers, Managers and Subject Matter Experts to drive and build configuration management strategies for software and/or hardware design, development, assembly and integration.
  • Author CM plans describing the approach to performing CM activities for a given project/product in alignment with contractual and other relevant requirements.
  • Establish configuration baselines for all deliverable software and hardware items at varying levels of scale: from a small subsystem module to large complex system-of-systems.
  • Maintain changes in configuration item disposition, location, status, etc. in a manner allowing for subsequent reporting and effective decision making.
  • Maintain changes in externally referenced or provided items including customer- or Government-furnished equipment and/or information (e.g. algorithms of third-party origin).
  • Perform necessary analytics and generate reports that list point-in-time differences relative to a prior baseline. For example, produce as-built configuration status reports for deliverable systems including identifying differences from the as-designed baseline.
  • Conduct functional and/or physical configuration audits of MDA and subcontractor configuration items and deliverables as required and in accordance with the corresponding plan.
  • Administrate and provide front-line engineering end-user support to software code libraries and source code management tools.
  • Administrate document and product-lifecycle-management tools.
  • Support Quality Assurance process audits of the CM function.

Requirements (experience/skills)

  • A two- or three-year accredited diploma or certificate program in an applied science or engineering technology discipline is required. CM-II or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the software, CM, or hardware/systems engineering field is preferred. Sound working knowledge of hardware/software engineering practices.
  • A healthy attention to detail is required.
  • Familiarity with software CM tools is required; administrator-level familiarity with GIT, JIRA, Subversion, AGILE, FileHold, or SharePoint systems is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with internationally recognized CM Standards (MIL-STD-973, IEEE-488, ISO 10007) is an asset. Prior experience working within a certified quality management system (e.g. ISO 9001) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CM change processes for software, drawings, documentation, and hardware.
  • Experience working in the Windows operating system is required; familiarity with Linux is an asset.
  • Experience in CM/Engineering within the Government and/or military or aerospace industries is highly desirable.

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the SECRET status level II, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $70 000 to $90 000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
