Overview

The Manager, Engineering Operations leads our engineering operations team responsible for managing the engineering systems and tools that the Engineering team relies on daily. Collaborates with the core Engineering, IT, Security, and Product teams to optimize our tools, processes, and systems. Drive operational excellence by optimizing processes, managing development tools, providing visibility to insights and results, and ensuring alignment across teams. Displaying the ability to connect people, tools, and workflows will be crucial to improving execution efficiency and visibility across functional groups in the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide operations leadership, mentoring, and career development
  • Provide governance and process optimization of scalable workflows and systems use
  • Identify gaps in process lifecycles and propose recommended solutions to drive consistency in process execution
  • Tool configuration, administration, managing templates, reporting structures, maintain integrations between systems, and customizations. Engineering wide adoption across systems and tooling stakeholders
  • Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of various engineering systems like Azure Board, Confluence, and other home-grown systems.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering teams to understand requirements and ensure systems and tools support their needs
  • Provide key insights and results in the form of dashboards, reports, and data to leadership
  • Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support data-driven decision-making in daily responsibilities (CoPilot etc.)
  • Optimize systems for scalability, cost-efficiency, performance, and ease of use
  • Partner with Security team to implement security best practices and ensure compliance with corporate requirements (HIPAA, SOC2, etc.)
  • Help with license tracking and systems/tooling cost analysis
  • Assist the CTO and other leaders with special projects and data analysis

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in an Engineering setting, or Engineering roles, and two years of experience leading and managing technical teams, engineering operations, program management, or a related role within a software development environment.
  • Expert level experience managing or administering development tools (Azure DevOps - ADO, Atlassian Confluence, Aha!, Jira, Power BI, and similar platforms).
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity, decision-making, and problem-solving in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency working with AWS as a platform to operate engineering systems
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies, scrum, and/or scaled agile methodologies (SAFe), and Git workflows
  • Strong experience analyzing systems and data and presenting it to different audiences including executives
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner with cross-functional teams (IT, Product, Engineering, Security, Product, Quality, DevOps, Architecture, UX, Program Management, etc.)
  • Proven track record of leading formal process changes with influence and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent problem solver and someone that can bridge gaps to provide solutions

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in healthcare technology or highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC2, GDPR, etc.)
  • Knowledge of engineering management systems (task tracking, source control, requirements systems, etc.)
  • Experience leading an engineering operations group or project
  • Experience with engineering operations, cost optimization and management
