Overview

The Accounting Director is responsible for supporting the accounting department by managing our local statutory reporting in India, leading and developing our local team, and supporting the global accounting team on various tasks relating to our financial close process. This role will work closely alongside our India General Manager and leaders within the finance organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management of financial statement close process ensuring compliance with India Accounting Standards and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
  • Ensure adherence to local regulations and reporting mandates, which includes compliance with all Indian tax and finance regulations.
  • Support the global accounting team in maintaining key financial statement accounts to ensure accurate reporting under US GAAP.
  • Support with transfer pricing, including participating in any local transfer pricing audits.
  • Build and lead an accounting team in India to support international financial operations and ensure seamless coordination with global finance teams.
  • Responsible for GL account reconciliations and fluctuation analysis over key accounts.
  • Partner alongside our FP&A team in reviewing our annual budget and forecast.
  • Support the global accounting team by ensuring accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns and other business-related filings, including US sales tax returns.
  • Support the company through various initiatives such as M&A integrations and global financial statement audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial reporting, analysis, and business performance insights.
  • Ensure statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance under Indian laws (Companies Act, FEMA, Transfer Pricing, GST, Income Tax, etc.).
  • Manage external audits, statutory filings, and internal controls in line with global SOX/IFC frameworks.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and monthly performance reviews for India entity.
  • Provide insights on cost drivers, productivity, and efficiency metrics for the India entity.
  • Represent finance with government authorities, regulators, and external advisors.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA (Finance)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP principles
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and proactive approach
  • Strong exposure to Indian statutory compliance, tax, and corporate governance.
  • Experience in managing finance for GCCs.
  • Proven track record in FP&A, controllership, and cross-border finance operations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • CPA or CA (In India CA or MBA finance is standard for finance lead)
  • Experience in a healthcare technology company or a company with recurring revenue cycles
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with NetSuite
